Starting Site of Grace: The Fissure

1. From Castle Front, ride south to the crossroads, turn east and follow the road to the next fork. Take the right-hand dirt track, then the left fork downhill toward the southeast.
2. Pass the bloodfiends and descend into the shallow poison area. Follow the lower path down toward the river rather than climbing toward the fort; watch for militia and poison traps along the descent.
3. At the bottom is a shallow pool with a giant crab. Turn southwest into the opening in the cliff, continue through the cave past the Revered Spirit Ash chamber and activate Ellac River Cave grace.
4. Leave by the southern cave exit and turn south along the river. Use Torrent to cross the successive rock ledges beside the waterfall, landing on the nearby rocks rather than jumping to the valley floor.
5. Continue down the ledge path past the stone birds, watching for the living ones to attack. Drop down the short rock steps to Ellac River Downstream grace.
6. From Downstream, continue south beside the lower falls. Cross the long rock pillar toward the east and use its far side to reach the lower water safely.
7. The lower basin opens toward a Furnace Golem. Its fight is optional for reaching the coast, the friendly forager or the lightning-flower pond.
8. Head through the eastern wooded side of the basin, then follow the passage southwest through the cliffs to Cerulean Coast grace. The blue-flowered field beyond confirms you have reached the coast.
9. From Cerulean Coast grace, ride south through the blue flowers past the enormous stone coffins. Avoid or circle the Ghostflame Dragon if you do not want to fight.
10. Continue south along the rising path to the roadside map stele. Beyond it the path bends west; look southeast for Miquella's Cross and activate Cerulean Coast Cross grace.
11. From the cross, head northwest toward the huge coffin across the road, then follow the road southwest and south past the pot-throwing troll.
12. Continue beyond the coffins to the enormous opening in the southern coast. Stay on the upper ground to its east rather than descending the ledges.
13. Follow that eastern cliff overlooking the rocky water and loot the seated corpse for the cookbook. The dungeon below is a different route.

Notes

• Unlocks Eternal Sleep Grease and Drawstring Eternal Sleep Grease. Each uses one Knot Resin and one Deep-Purple Lily; the drawstring recipe also uses one String.
• The book unlocks its recipes once you own a Crafting Kit. It is not equipped or consumed, and the recipes carry into later journeys.
• Its number identifies its contents; you do not need to collect the earlier numbered books first.
• Knot Resin is the required resin, rather than Root Resin. Deep-Purple Lily is also separate from the ordinary Trina's Lily.
• Grease can be applied while using a compatible weapon and an affinity that allows weapon buffs. This recipe does not make an otherwise incompatible weapon eligible.
• The drawstring version is applied quickly but gives a shorter window than the ordinary coating. Use it near the fight rather than before a long approach.
• This is a surface pickup east of the Fissure. You do not need to wait for the seal to break or defeat the boss below.
