Unlocks Alter garments at Sites of Grace for compatible ordinary clothing. You keep the tools and can use them repeatedly; they are not spent on each change.

Most supported changes cost 500 runes at a grace. They convert the garment you own, and changing it back is another alteration rather than a second copy of the piece.

Alteration can change weight, protection, resistance and poise, as well as appearance. Some garments also lose a passive when changed, so read both versions before deciding.

Demi-Human Chiefs in Coastal Cave

Starting Site of Grace: Coastal Cave

  1. From Church of Elleh, head southwest toward the western coast and use the sloping route beside the collapsed stonework to reach the beach. Do not jump straight off the high cliff.
  2. Look for Coastal Cave in the cliff face, southwest of the church and south of Stormfoot Catacombs. Enter and activate the grace on the left.
  3. Use a torch or lantern for the dark passage. Beyond the first Demi-Human, descend toward the larger chamber; the left-hand passage also leads around to its entrance.
  4. Defeat both Demi-Human Chiefs and the smaller Demi-Humans supporting them. Avoid running all the way across the room while the first chief is still pressuring you.
  5. Receive Tailoring Tools and Sewing Needle together after the fight. The tunnel beyond leads to Church of Dragon Communion, but you do not need to follow it for these rewards.

  • Most supported changes cost 500 runes at a grace. They convert the garment you own, and changing it back is another alteration rather than a second copy of the piece.
  • Alteration can change weight, protection, resistance and poise, as well as appearance. Some garments also lose a passive when changed, so read both versions before deciding.
  • Only pieces with a supported altered form appear. The tools do not let you recolor armor, move a cape onto an unrelated chest or alter every piece that an enemy wears.
  • Boc can perform compatible alterations without the rune fee after you return his ordinary Sewing Needle. That needle is his quest item; these tools are the player's own tailoring unlock.
  • Golden Tailoring Tools expand the menu to compatible special garments. They are a separate pickup at Church of Vows, not the reward from these cave bosses.
