1. One checked approach to Bellum Highway uses the Academy Glintstone Key. Collect it behind the sleeping dragon north of Temple Quarter, then examine the seal at South Raya Lucaria Gate to reach Main Academy Gate.
2. From Main Academy Gate, examine the other blue seal at the northeast end of the junction. It takes you across the broken bridge to East Raya Lucaria Gate; walking along the broken bridge itself does not cross the gap.
3. Ride north along Bellum Highway and turn toward Bellum Church on the left side of the road. Activate its grace.
4. Use the broken floor and descending path through the church ruins to reach the merchant camp just north of the church. The merchant is below the church approach, not beside its statue.
5. Buy the cookbook for 2,000 runes. You do not need to activate Grand Lift of Dectus or defeat an academy boss for this purchase.
6. Buy the Crafting Kit from Kalé at Church of Elleh for 300 runes if Item Crafting is still locked. The cookbook alone does not unlock the crafting menu.
7. With the book and materials in your inventory, open Item Crafting outside combat and select Bone Ballista Bolt. One craft makes 5.

Notes

• One craft makes 5, using 1 Hefty Beast Bone. You keep the cookbook and Crafting Kit; only the ingredients are spent.
• Greatbolt ammunition for Hand Ballista, Jar Cannon and other ballista weapons. It does not fit an ordinary crossbow or a greatbow.
• Adds 158 Physical attack power to the shot. This is the ammunition contribution, before the ranged weapon, skill, distance and enemy defenses determine the actual damage.
• Regular Ballista Bolt has 160 Physical attack power compared with 158 here. This is a craftable large bolt, not the much smaller Bone Bolt from Kalé's first book.
• Hand Ballista and Jar Cannon have no ordinary attribute scaling. Meeting their Strength requirement lets you use them properly, but raising Strength further does not add scaling damage to these bolts.
• Carry up to 20 of this type. Each craft produces five, rather than the ten made by ordinary Bone Bolt.
