Before you go
- Obtain Astrologer Robe.
- Obtain the Tailoring Tools.
- Reach Lake-Facing Cliffs in southern Liurnia, either after leaving Stormveil Castle or by following the cliff path around the castle's eastern side.
- Follow the downhill road toward the shallow lake. Activate Liurnia Lake Shore grace, then look just northwest for the merchant sitting beside a campfire.
- Buy Astrologer Robe for 1,500 runes.
- Reach Coastal Cave on the beach below western Limgrave. Defeat the two Demi-Human Chiefs to obtain the Tailoring Tools and Sewing Needle.
- Rest at a grace, choose Alter garments and change Astrologer Robe into Astrologer Robe (Altered).

- Obtain the Tailoring Tools.
- Begin as Astrologer with Astrologer Robe.
- Reach Coastal Cave on the beach below western Limgrave. Defeat the two Demi-Human Chiefs to obtain the Tailoring Tools and Sewing Needle.
- Rest at a grace, choose Alter garments and change the starting piece into Astrologer Robe (Altered). You do not need to reach the merchant for this route.

- Has no passive attribute or attack bonus and cannot be reinforced with Smithing Stones. Mixing it with other armor does not remove a matching-set bonus.
- Does not raise Intelligence, FP or sorcery damage. Changing the piece does not change your staff's attribute scaling.
