In-game description

A talisman given by the jars to their friends.

Raises potency of thrown jars.

Though the jars are brought to life by human flesh and blood, they are all rather kindly folk. Perhaps they were made to be better than their innards.

Where to find

Jar-Bairn's resting place in Jarburg

Liurnia of the Lakes

Starting Site of Grace: Jarburg

Before you go

  • Keep Jar-Bairn alive and complete Alexander's final duel for his innards.
  1. In eastern Liurnia, follow the cliffs south of Carian Study Hall and look down toward Jarburg. Use the large gravestones sticking out of the cliff to descend in short drops, then activate Jarburg grace. The living jars here are friendly.
  2. Speak to Jar-Bairn on the steps of the house near the northern end of the village. Answer his question about becoming the new potentate, finish his dialogue and rest at the grace. Return for each new conversation about flowers and Alexander.
  3. Keep Jar-Bairn alive and finish Alexander's final quest reward using the route below. Diallos's separate village story is optional for Companion Jar; his absence does not require killing anyone or restarting the journey.
  4. Keep Alexander alive through the Radahn Festival. Once Starscourge Radahn is defeated, find Alexander on the Wailing Dunes battlefield and finish all his dialogue before leaving.
  5. His meeting above Jarburg in eastern Liurnia is optional. If he is stuck there, speak to him, throw an Oil Pot over him and strike him from behind to free him; finish the conversation afterward.
  6. From Erdtree-Gazing Hill on Altus Plateau, ride north through Wyndham Ruins and enter the valley beside Mt. Gelmir at Seethewater River. Follow the valley north, then around the mountain toward Seethewater Terminus.
  7. From Seethewater Terminus, ride west toward Fort Laiedd, then turn south around the outside of the fort. Continue southwest until you reach the lava lake with a Magma Wyrm.
  8. Make the lake safe enough to approach the rock island near Alexander. Ride across the shallow lava on Torrent, get onto the rock and dismount so you can speak without standing in the lava.
  9. Finish Alexander's dialogue at the lava lake and keep him alive. The early meetings in Limgrave, Gael Tunnel and the hole above Jarburg are optional; summoning him for Radahn or Fire Giant is also optional.
  10. Progress through the Fire Giant and reach Crumbling Farum Azula. Defeat the Godskin Duo and continue beyond Dragon Temple Altar to the stairs leading to the imp-sealed lift. Bring two Stonesword Keys to open it.
  11. Ride up and activate Dragon Temple Lift. Leave the lift building, go left across the fountain plaza and climb its stairs. Turn right at the top toward the broken stone structures.
  12. Climb onto the fallen ruins that form a crossing to the next rocky ledge. Continue across the ruined bridge pieces to the broad floating platform where Alexander waits.
  13. Finish his conversation and agree to his challenge. Defeat him in the duel, then speak to him again to receive Shard of Alexander and Alexander's Innards. Dying during the duel lets you try again; killing him at an earlier meeting forfeits these final rewards.
  14. Return to Jar-Bairn with Alexander's Innards. Continue his conversations, resting and returning between changes, until the option to give him the innards appears. Hand them over and finish his response.
  15. Reload Jarburg once more. Jar-Bairn leaves to begin his journey, and Companion Jar is left where he was sitting. Pick it up from the steps; it is not a direct reward from Alexander's duel.

Notes

  • Raises damage from eligible ordinary Cracked Pot and Ritual Pot attacks by 20%. Eligible Hefty Cracked Pot attacks receive a separate 10% increase.
  • It improves direct damage, not Poison, Scarlet Rot, Sleep or other status buildup. A pot used only to apply a status or another utility effect does not gain that buildup benefit.
  • Can be combined with Jar or Greatjar for attacks covered by both pieces. Greatjar adds 17%, giving a combined 40.4% increase for eligible ordinary pots or 28.7% for eligible hefty pots. Jar supplies 15% for ordinary pots and does not boost hefty pots.
  • The pot bonus does not apply to Jar Cannon, which fires greatbolts.
  • The talisman supplies no ingredients, recipes or extra containers. You still need the recipe and materials for the pots you want to use.
  • Alexander's Innards come from his final duel in Farum Azula. Killing him early prevents that reward, so keep him alive if you want to give the innards to Jar-Bairn.
  • After handing over the innards and finishing Jar-Bairn's dialogue, reload Jarburg and collect the talisman where he was sitting. It is not received from Alexander's duel itself.
  • Diallos is not required for this talisman. His village story is a separate branch; the essential reward handover is Alexander's Innards to the living Jar-Bairn. Do not attack the friendly villagers.
