In-game description
Weapon of the masked Curseblades.
Circular backhand blade with wave-like cutting edges, sharpened into points that incite blood loss.
Long ago, this was employed by the ascetics who strove to become tutelary deities as a ritualistic object in their self-flagellating dances.
Skill
An aggressive spinning skill that tears into foes using the circular blades held in each hand. Additional input allows for a sharp axe-kick follow-up.
Where to find
Gravesite Plain
Starting Site of Grace: Gravesite Plain
Before you go
- To enter the Realm of Shadow, defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, then touch the withered arm in Mohg's arena at Mohgwyn Palace.
- Access the Realm of Shadow.
- Enter the Realm of Shadow after defeating Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, by touching the withered arm in Mohg's arena.
- Leave the opening tunnel and activate Gravesite Plain grace. Look northeast toward the tall ruined stone arch on the path ahead.
- A masked Curseblade waits on top of the arch and drops down when you approach. Give yourself room to dodge its spinning attacks, then defeat it and check the glowing loot.
- Collect the weapon drop if it appears, then rest at Gravesite Plain and repeat. The circular weapon and Ascetic clothing are separate random rewards.
Gravesite Plain
Starting Site of Grace: Stagefront
Before you go
- To enter the Realm of Shadow, defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, then touch the withered arm in Mohg's arena at Mohgwyn Palace.
- Reach the upper part of Belurat.
- From Stagefront, turn back toward the stairs you used to reach the grace. A Curseblade patrols those stairs.
- Approach while crouching if you want to open with a backstab. Defeat it, check the drop, and rest at Stagefront to repeat the farm.
Notes
- Physical damage scales most strongly with Dexterity, with weaker Strength scaling.
- Upgrade it with Somber Smithing Stones. Its maximum upgrade is +10.
- Its Deadly Dance skill is fixed and cannot be replaced with an Ash of War.
- Its normal weapon hits build up blood loss. The effect only triggers against enemies that are vulnerable to it.
- Two-hand the weapon to draw both cirques. You do not need a second copy for its paired attacks.
- Requires 9 Strength and 22 Dexterity, weighs 4.5 and has 45 Blood Loss buildup. It has no Arcane scaling, so Arcane does not improve that innate bleed.
- Deadly Dance costs 15 FP for the opening spinning attack. A heavy-attack follow-up costs another 8 FP and adds the finishing downward attack; both stages require an opening to land safely.
- Its cirque attacks deal Slash damage. The circular blades stay in your hands during ordinary attacks, unlike Smithscript Cirque's thrown heavy attacks.
- It blocks 55% of Physical damage with 45 base Guard Boost. That is much better stamina protection than Backhand Blade's 15 base Guard Boost, but blocking still lets Physical chip damage through.
- The weapon has a smaller PvP damage penalty than the other backhand blades, with the exact reduction depending on the attack. That does not remove its ordinary defenses or make every paired hit land.
- Grease and weapon enchantments cannot be applied. Its fixed skill also prevents replacing Deadly Dance with Blind Spot or Swift Slash.
- The opening Gravesite Plain and Stagefront farms have a 3% base weapon chance at 100 Item Discovery. Some later Curseblade variants have a different chance, so the same rate should not be assumed for every location.
