Where to find
Gravesite Plain
Starting Site of Grace: Scorched Ruins
Before you go
- To enter the Realm of Shadow, defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, then touch the withered arm in Mohg's arena at Mohgwyn Palace.
- Access the Realm of Shadow.
- From the opening Gravesite Plain grace, follow the road north to Scorched Ruins. Activate the grace just north of the burnt buildings, then leave the road toward the northeast.
- Look in the open field for a small stone pavilion around a large coffin. The robed Inquisitors walking around it are landmarks, not a required weapon farm.
- Collect the item in front of the coffin for Backhand Blade. It comes with Blind Spot equipped. You can obtain it before entering Belurat or Castle Ensis.
Notes
- With Standard affinity, physical damage scales most strongly with Dexterity, with weaker Strength scaling.
- Upgrade it with Smithing Stones. Its maximum upgrade is +25.
- Can use compatible Ashes of War. Your choice of skill and the whetblades you've found determine which affinities you can apply.
- Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs.
- Two-hand this weapon to draw its matching second blade. You do not need to collect a second copy to use its paired moveset.
- Blind Spot comes equipped on the weapon when you pick it up. You can replace it with another compatible Ash of War.
- Requires 10 Strength and 13 Dexterity and weighs only 2. It has no innate Blood Loss despite resembling curved swords often used for bleed builds.
- Blind Spot costs 9 FP and moves you around the target before striking. Directional input changes the side you move to, making positioning part of the skill rather than just the final damage.
- Its paired running attacks keep you moving and can catch a retreating target. Much of the moveset deals Slash damage, with Pierce damage on the actual thrusting contacts.
- A Keen affinity favors Dexterity, while Blood or Cold can add status at the cost of ordinary grease and spell-buff compatibility. The paired attacks have their own buildup values rather than automatically doubling every listed status amount.
- Its weapon class has reduced damage against other players. Enemy damage and PvP damage are not interchangeable when comparing the same attack.
