In-game description
Circular backhand blade engraved with a smithscript.
A throwing weapon created through the smithing arts.
Execute a strong attack to throw the backhand blade, causing it to fly in a curved trajectory.
Incompatible with ashes of war that grant skills with an affinity.
Skill
Leap into close quarters to take advantage of the enemy's blind spot and gore them from the side. Inputs determine which side you strike from. This attack slips below the opponent's guard.Ash of War: Blind Spot

Starting Site of Grace: Ruined Forge of Starfall Past
Before you go
- To enter the Realm of Shadow, defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, then touch the withered arm in Mohg's arena at Mohgwyn Palace.
- From Highroad Cross in Scadu Altus, travel east to Moorth Ruins. Turn southwest toward the large ruined rectangular building and find the opening marked by torches on its outer wall.
- Enter Ruined Forge of Starfall Past and descend to its grace. Cross the narrow bridge in the first main room, then pull the lever beside the brazier to lower the door below.
- Drop into the central channel and pass through the opened door. Continue into the next area, take the tunnel on the right and climb the ladder in that tunnel.
- Follow the upper passage into the golem room. Climb the broken ramp to the inactive lift platform; the room to the left contains ceiling slimes and the Smithing Talisman, but is optional for the cirques.
- Look east over the platform edge and drop onto the stone walkway below. Cross the bridge to the opposite golem and pull the lever beside the brazier to lower the second heavy door.
- Drop to the opened door and follow the passage to its dead end. Two Golem Smiths guard the corpse beside the dark drop. Loot the Smithscript Cirque and leave by the same passage; the drop behind the corpse is fatal.
- You do not need to ride the heavy door upward or visit the final altar. Those lead to separate rewards after this pickup.
Notes
- Requires 9 Strength, 14 Dexterity, 11 Intelligence and 11 Faith, and weighs 2. Standard affinity favors Dexterity, with a smaller Strength contribution and small Intelligence and Faith increases to Physical damage.
- Two-handing draws the matching cirque and gives the paired moveset. A second copy is unnecessary for the pair.
- Light attacks are close slashes. Heavy attacks throw one or both circular blades along curved paths, giving a different approach from the straight flight of a throwing dagger.
- The throws have short range but do not lose damage across that flight in the same way as several other Smithscript projectiles. They still need a clear path and an enemy inside their reach.
- Thrown heavy attacks and guard counters have less stance pressure than the usual close-range Backhand Blade equivalents. Do not assume the ranged option keeps every benefit of the ordinary melee moveset.
- Ordinary thrown cirques do not add progress to consecutive-hit effects such as Winged Sword Insignia. Melee slashes and the weapon's skill have their own contact rules.
- Smithing Talisman improves eligible throws by 10% against enemies and 5% against other players. It does not increase projectile range or turn ordinary melee contacts into throwing attacks.
- Blind Spot is the starting skill. Its evasive side movement and guard-bypassing strike remain melee actions, rather than another cirque throw.
- Weapon-coating skills such as Sacred Blade, Chilling Mist and Royal Knight's Resolve are excluded. Being infusible does not mean it can use every Ash available to an ordinary weapon of the same class.
- Uses ordinary Smithing Stones to +25. Can use compatible Ashes of War and their supported affinities, but grease and weapon enchantments cannot be applied even with a Physical affinity.
- The pair is a fixed corpse pickup beyond the second lowered gate in Ruined Forge of Starfall Past. No random golem drop or boss defeat is required.
