And so it is that the shape of the dragon has become symbolic of all manner of protections.

Starting Site of Grace: Bestial Sanctum

1. Reach Bestial Sanctum in northern Dragonbarrow. The waygate behind the Third Church of Marika in Limgrave offers an early approach; leave the Black Blade Kindred alone if you are not ready to fight it.
2. From the sanctum's front door, go southwest around the outside wall and look over the cliff for a large tree root below.
3. Drop to the root, then the next root and the domed roof. From the roof, reach the first circular stone platform against the cliff.
4. Use the small ledges around the pillars and their connecting buttresses to descend between the rings. Look for an intermediate ledge each time rather than dropping directly to the next distant ring.
5. For the last descent, use Torrent's double jump to reach the outer pillar ledge just above the lowest ring. A direct fall onto the ring can exceed the lethal fall distance.
6. Follow the third ring northeast and loot the corpse. Watch for bats while crossing the narrow stonework.

Notes

• Reduces incoming physical damage by 10% against enemies or 2% against other players. The smaller player-versus-player value applies against player attacks, rather than using the enemy reduction everywhere.
• Covers Standard, Strike, Slash and Pierce damage. Magic, Fire, Lightning and Holy parts of a mixed hit remain unaffected.
• Works without a shield. It reduces qualifying HP damage, rather than raising Guard Boost or directly lowering the stamina spent blocking.
• Cannot be equipped with another Dragoncrest Shield variant or Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman. The later versions are separate pickups, rather than upgrades that consume this one.
• With 25% existing negation for a covered damage type, its 10% enemy reduction gives 32.5% total negation. It is not an extra 10 percentage points added directly to the armor display.
• The three-ring descent behind Bestial Sanctum uses narrow ledges and intermediate landings. Physical damage negation does not prevent lethal falls, and Torrent's second jump does not reset fall distance.
• The Black Blade Kindred outside the sanctum is optional. The sending gate north of Third Church of Marika provides an early way to the area.
• Weighs 0.8. Its protection stays active while equipped; it does not need FP, a casting tool or an attribute requirement.
