Rauh Base

Starting Site of Grace: Ancient Ruins Base

1. From Moorth Ruins grace in Scadu Altus, ride northeast to the small triangular pool. Look for the cave beside a statue of Marika and a Scadutree Fragment.
2. Enter the cave and follow it past the perfumers to the glowing golden tree. Take the path to its right down into the swamp.
3. Turn left through the route beneath the rock and continue until you emerge into Rauh Base. Activate Ancient Ruins Base grace ahead.
4. From Ancient Ruins Base, head northwest through the woodland toward the small Messmer soldier camp. It is southwest of Taylew's Ruined Forge, rather than in the upper Ancient Ruins.
5. Clear the soldiers around the tent and bonfire. Look among the boxes inside the tent and open the chest for Pearl Shield Talisman.
6. Entering Taylew's Ruined Forge or defeating its golems is unnecessary. Return to the lowland grace when you have the talisman.

Notes

• Reduces Magic, Fire, Lightning and Holy damage received through a qualifying guard by 20%. It does not reduce physical chip damage.
• For a qualifying blocked hit, it helps reduce elemental damage that gets through the guard. It does not turn a shield's listed elemental negation into twenty extra percentage points.
• It does not provide the same protection when you are caught unguarded. Hits from behind and attacks that cannot be blocked remain a separate problem.
• It does not reduce stamina lost from a block. Greatshield Talisman improves that part of guarding instead.
• Can serve alongside compatible unconditional elemental protection. Pearldrake talismans protect against the listed elements outside guarding as well, with different percentages.
• The chest is in the lowland soldier camp southwest of Taylew's Ruined Forge. Stay in Rauh Base rather than climbing into the upper ruins. Exploring Taylew's Ruined Forge is unnecessary for this pickup.
• For example, if a blocked Fire attack would deal 100 HP after the other reductions, the talisman reduces that to 80. A shield with 80% Fire negation effectively blocks 84% of the original hit with this extra reduction, before other protection.
• It works on a qualifying weapon guard as well as a shield guard. A shield is not required just because the item is named Pearl Shield.
• Its 20% elemental reduction has no smaller PvP percentage. Weighs 0.9, and it does not raise resistance to status buildup carried by an otherwise blocked hit.
