The power of the glintstones that encircle the barrel imbues bolts with magic damage and guides shots toward their targets.

Scadu Altus

Starting Site of Grace: Church District Highroad

Before you go

  • To enter the Realm of Shadow, defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, then touch the withered arm in Mohg's arena at Mohgwyn Palace.
  1. From Highroad Cross in Scadu Altus, follow the road east to Moorth Ruins and activate the grace beside the cross.
  2. Pass through the large stone arch east-southeast of the grace. At the house ahead, turn left toward the leaning tower. Avoid the large open shaft behind the house, which is too deep for a direct drop.
  3. Find the smaller gap between the broken building and the rock wall in front of the leaning tower. Drop onto the balcony-like ledge, turn right past the dogs and follow the cave inward.
  4. At the open chamber, use the back-left ledges to reach the lower roof. The shrine below is a landmark; its chest is an optional pickup.
  5. To continue east, drop from the lower roof to the ground and take the cave beside the building on the left. Follow it to the long ladder and climb out of the well at Bonny Village grace.
  6. Go east through Bonny Village, watching for the large cleaver-wielding villagers, and cross the two suspension bridges. The second brings you to Bridge Leading to the Village grace.
  7. Follow the road north through the woods to Church District Highroad grace. Stop here instead of taking the northwestern tunnel into Shadow Keep.
  8. From Church District Highroad, head east to Rabbath's Rise. Enter the tower and climb the stairs into the library room.
  9. Strike the southwestern wall with the two stone arches to reveal a hidden balcony. Break the sealing stone on this balcony to activate the spiritspring outside.
  10. Return to ground level and mount Torrent. Use the spiritspring to jump onto the staircase winding around the tower's upper section.
  11. Climb the remaining stairs and open the chest for the cannon. The broken lift inside is not the route to this chest.

Notes

  • Requires 28 Strength and 16 Dexterity and weighs 15. It fires with both hands, so 19 actual Strength meets the Strength requirement; the Dexterity requirement remains 16.
  • Deals Physical and Magic damage with no attribute damage scaling. Intelligence does not strengthen its Magic damage, and extra Strength or Dexterity beyond the requirements does not directly increase attack power.
  • Its mechanism gives shots guidance while locked onto a target. This can help a shot follow movement, but it does not guarantee a hit through walls or other cover.
  • Fires ballista greatbolts, including Rabbath's Greatbolts. Ordinary arrows, greatarrows and standard crossbow bolts cannot be loaded.
  • Magic-damage boosts affect the Magic part of a qualifying shot. They do not create Intelligence scaling or automatically strengthen the separate Physical portion.
  • Each damage type meets its own defenses. The split between Physical and Magic is useful against some targets, but the total listed attack power is not the damage that every enemy will receive.
  • Reloading leaves a long opening. Fire from a safe position and leave time to move before trying another shot at close range.
  • Its fixed Kick costs no FP. The affinity and skill cannot be changed, and grease or weapon enchantments cannot be applied.
  • Upgrades with Somber Smithing Stones to +10. Its chest is reached by opening the sealed spiritspring; O Mother, Hinterland and the hidden bell-bearing room are separate routes.
