About this item

Uses one stone to leave a colored light where it lands. It costs no FP and is useful for marking a junction or a ledge during exploration.

Drop one over an edge before attempting an uncertain descent. A sharp breaking sound warns of a lethal fall.

A stone that survives marks only the place where that stone landed. Your jump can reach a different surface, so it is still worth checking the landing rather than treating the whole cliff as safe.

In-game description

Ruin Fragment that has undergone some simple processing.

Craftable item.

Stones such as these shine with the colors of the rainbow, making them useful markers when placed on the ground.

Can also be dropped to gauge the distance of a fall. The higher the pitch of the sound, the higher the likelihood of the fall being fatal.

Once used to entertain children on the fringes of the Lands Between.

Where to find

Crafting with the Crafting Kit

Limgrave

Starting Site of Grace: Church of Elleh

Before you go

  • Crafting Kit
  • Ingredients per batch: 1 Ruin Fragment
  1. From the First Step, follow the road north to the ruined Church of Elleh. Speak to Kalé beside the fire and buy the Crafting Kit for 300 runes.
  2. Gather a Ruin Fragment from the fallen stone ruins scattered around Limgrave.
  3. Outside combat, open Item Crafting and choose Rainbow Stone. One Ruin Fragment makes one stone; no cookbook or container is required.

Notes

  • Uses one stone to leave a colored light where it lands. It costs no FP and is useful for marking a junction or a ledge during exploration.
  • Drop one over an edge before attempting an uncertain descent. A sharp breaking sound warns of a lethal fall.
  • A stone that survives marks only the place where that stone landed. Your jump can reach a different surface, so it is still worth checking the landing rather than treating the whole cliff as safe.
  • The starter recipe needs no cookbook: one Ruin Fragment makes one Rainbow Stone once you have the Crafting Kit.
  • These are consumable markers, not a reusable light attached to your character. A Lantern is better when you want light to follow you.
