Effects
While transformed, reduces all damage taken by 10% and adds 50 to each status resistance. All armor slots must remain empty, so armor poise is not included. The form lasts until death. Using the heart again is a separate temporary spell empowerment, not another copy of these defenses.

In-game description
Heart consumed in the ancient, original form of Dragon Communion.
Use while disrobed to turn one's human flesh into an ancient dragon.
The change cannot be undone except by death.
Using this heart while already transformed temporarily boosts Dragon Communion incantations.
The last thing the partaker saw with human eyes was a sunset, its colors faded and tarnished—a remote thing from eternity.
Where to find
Domain of Dragons painting reward
Shadow Keep / Jagged Peak
Starting Site of Grace: Jagged Peak Mountainside
Before you go
- Examine the Domain of Dragons painting first.
- From Highroad Cross in Scadu Altus, follow the main road north to Shadow Keep's southern gate. Ride the entrance lift and activate Shadow Keep Main Gate grace.
- Defeat Golden Hippopotamus in the plaza. This is the front-door route; the flooded Church District provides a different way into the keep.
- From Main Gate Plaza, leave through the west-northwest doorway, pass through the armory and climb the stairs. Continue up the wooden steps to the dining hall, where two Black Knights guard the route.
- Leave the dining hall through its southeastern exit to the upper rampart. Follow the rampart past the burning boats and watch for the small Shadow Militiamen hiding beside them.
- On the rampart with the burning boats, find the ladder beside the moat and descend. Pass behind the waterfall, climb down the next ladder and interact with Domain of Dragons in the painting room.
- From Castle Front, follow the road southeast toward Pillar Path Waypoint. At the fork, use the lower road toward Igon rather than climbing to the Suppressing Pillar.
- Continue south-southwest past the broken dragon statues. An Ancient Dragon-Man invades along this approach. The cave entrance is on the left near the end of the path, marked by a fire.
- Activate Dragon's Pit grace and follow the lit passage down. Watch for skeletons below the first ledge and around the next corner. Strike their glowing remains after knocking them down to stop them getting back up.
- In the large cavern with the pillars, follow the left-hand ledge down and take the passage beside the distant crossbow skeleton. Continue onto the sloping stairs in the next chamber.
- Take the downward route toward the large altar and pit. The stairs going up lead to an optional Magma Wyrm; that fight is not needed to reach the exit.
- At the bottom, approach the message beside the deep chasm. Walk straight off this lowest ledge into the pit to land safely by the boss mist. Do not jump from the higher rooms or aim toward the side walls.
- Defeat the Ancient Dragon-Man behind the mist. Open the large doors at the back of the arena instead of using the return-to-entrance exit, then follow the tunnel to Dragon's Pit Terminus grace.
- From Dragon's Pit Terminus, descend to the first drake's lake bed. Use the northeastern archway and follow the path uphill as it bends southeast. The drake fight is optional.
- Continue along the narrow cliff path until you reach a spiritspring on the east side. This is the first spiritspring on the ascent, before the bridge to Foot of the Jagged Peak.
- Use the spiritspring to jump east, then cross the bridge south-southeast and activate Foot of the Jagged Peak grace.
- Follow the southern uphill path over the rocks to the two fighting drakes. You can skirt their arena to continue east without defeating them.
- Take the eastern canyon, climb using the next two spiritsprings and follow the valley uphill. Two boulders roll down the slope ahead; use the rocks on the right for cover before continuing.
- At the top of the boulder slope, turn east-northeast toward Ancient Dragon Senessax. You can ride past the dragon and take the northern uphill exit instead of fighting.
- Climb past the dead dragons to Jagged Peak Mountainside grace. Lightning strikes along the upper mountain, so move away from the marks that appear on the ground.
- From the grace, follow the western cliff toward the first spiritspring. Use it to reach the rocky outcrop by the dragon corpse rather than continuing directly up the main ascent.
- Cross the natural rock bridge and descend the small ledges on the right to the north-facing overlook southwest of the grace.
- Approach the seated painter. Let the spirit disappear, then collect Rock Heart from the ground.
Notes
- Remove all armor before using it. The humanoid dragon form lasts until death and prevents wearing armor; resting or using the heart again does not restore human form.
- Weapons and talismans remain usable. The form gives 10% damage reduction and adds 50 to Immunity, Robustness, Focus and Vitality, but gives no armor poise.
- Those resistance increases help delay status buildup. They do not cure an active ailment or make you immune to Poison, rot, Blood Loss, Frostbite, Sleep, Madness or Death Blight.
- Use the heart again while transformed for 20% more Dragon Communion incantation damage for 60 seconds. The timed damage bonus is separate from the lasting transformation.
- The bonus includes the eligible dragon breaths, bites, claws and Bayle incantations. It does not strengthen every attack against a dragon or the separate Dragon Cult Lightning family.
- Dragon Communion Seal's 15% school bonus combines with the 20% heart effect for 38% more eligible damage before other bonuses. Other compatible buffs can remain active.
- The tool is reusable and costs no FP. Repeated uses refresh the same timed bonus rather than adding another 20% per use.
- You must examine Domain of Dragons before the painter can give the reward. At the mountain viewpoint, approach closely and let the painter disappear before collecting the heart.
- Bayle, Senessax and the fighting drakes are unnecessary for the painting reward if you can pass their arenas. The viewpoint is below the summit route, so stop at the correct spiritspring detour.
- Priestess Heart gives a different form and school bonus. Neither heart can switch you directly out of an already active competing transformation.
