In-game description

Talisman depicting the dread dragon of the jagged peak, whose roars cause the peak's molten fury to boil and churn.

Raises potency of magma.

Bayle was the foul dragon's name—a terrible harbinger of destruction whose challenge to the ancient Dragonlord ended in grievous mutual injury.

Where to find

Elder's Hovel corpse

Gravesite Plain

Starting Site of Grace: Castle Front

  1. From Castle Front, ride south to the crossroads, turn east and follow the road to the next fork. Take the right-hand dirt track, then the left fork downhill toward the southeast.
  2. Pass the bloodfiends and descend into the shallow poison area. Follow the lower path down toward the river rather than climbing toward the fort; watch for militia and poison traps along the descent.
  3. At the swamp, keep to the right rather than taking the left cave route to Ellac River.
  4. Continue southeast to the end of the lowland path and cross the small gap.
  5. Find Elder's Hovel, the small shack ahead, and loot the corpse inside for the talisman.
  6. You do not need to climb Jagged Peak or defeat Bayle.

Notes

  • Increases eligible magma-related attack damage by 15% against enemies and 10% against other players.
  • Eligible examples include Magma Shot, magma Dragon Communion attacks, Eruption and Taker's Flames. The bonus is not limited to attacks that leave a visible pool on the floor.
  • It does not boost every fire attack. The actual attack must qualify for the magma-related effect, rather than simply using a fire weapon or spell.
  • Can stack with Shard of Alexander on an eligible damaging weapon skill. Two 15% bonuses give 32.25% more damage against enemies before other compatible effects.
  • Fire Scorpion Charm can provide a separate fire-damage bonus when the same attack qualifies, along with that charm's physical-damage penalty.
  • It does not make lava safe to stand in or provide fire protection. Despite its connection to Bayle, the pickup is in Elder's Hovel and does not require defeating him.
  • Other eligible examples include Roiling Magma, Gelmir's Fury and the magma portions of Magma Shower, Magma Guillotine and Sea of Magma. A skill's separate weapon-contact hit does not automatically gain the bonus just because another part creates magma.
  • Magma Breath and Theodorix's Magma qualify as incantations; this is separate from the 15% school bonus of Dragon Communion Seal.
  • Weighs 0.6. It has no activation timer or requirement to defeat Bayle, and it provides no damage negation of its own.
