About this item

An ebony-black concoction mixed by Thiollier.

A condensed, somniferous elixir, purported to be capable of putting even an ancient dragon to sleep. For an ordinary mortal, a single sip would assuredly result in swift and certain death.

Thiollier thought of St. Trina's sleep when he created this, but the ebony sleep he concocted had not the sweetness of nectar nor the gentleness of rest's embrace.

Before you go

• Complete the syrup exchange before advancing the NPCs beyond their early locations.

1. From Three-Path Cross in Gravesite Plain, go west through the natural arch to Main Gate Cross outside Belurat and meet Moore. Follow the northeastern road across Ellac Greatbridge to Castle Front, then take the southeastern road to Pillar Path Cross to meet Thiollier.
2. Speak to Thiollier first, then return to Moore and finish the conversation that gives Black Syrup for Thiollier. Do these opening conversations before advancing their later companion quest states.
3. Deliver Black Syrup to Thiollier at Pillar Path Cross. Choose the dialogue about being weary of life to receive Thiollier's Concoction. Keep it rather than drinking it.
4. The first concoction is a dialogue reward. Additional copies cost 30,000 runes each while Thiollier remains available as a merchant. Keep a copy for the priestess rather than using it on yourself.

Notes

• Using this directly kills your character. Keep it for the intended quest conversation rather than drinking it as a buff.
• Giving it to the Dragon Communion Priestess at night before Bayle's defeat begins her sleeping quest branch.
• The sleeping branch leads to Dragonbolt of Florissax and Ancient Dragon Florissax instead of Priestess Heart and Flowerstone Gavel.
• Moore and Thiollier move as the Realm of Shadow story progresses. Obtain the syrup and concoction early if you want that priestess outcome.
• The first bottle is free after the syrup dialogue. Buying more is optional; the 30,000-rune price is for additional bottles, not a fee required to begin the priestess branch.
• After offering it at night, leave and pass time until the priestess wakes, then finish her dialogue before defeating Bayle. Afterward, admit that you caused her sleep and agree to take her with you to receive the spirit reward.
