Crucible incantations

In-game description

One of the ancient Erdtree incantations.

Creates a throat pouch on the caster's neck, allowing them to spew fiery breath while walking.

Charging increases duration of the breath.

This is a manifestation of the Erdtree's primal vital energies—an aspect of the primordial crucible, where all life was once blended together.

Where to find

Rykard's arena, Volcano Manor

Mt. Gelmir

Starting Site of Grace: Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy

Before you go

  • Defeat Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy.
  1. Finish any Volcano Manor assassination rewards you want before defeating Rykard. His death ends the unfinished contracts. Completing every contract is not a requirement for Tanith's outfit, but killing him early can lose their separate rewards.
  2. Defeat Rykard through both phases, activate his arena grace and return to Tanith at Volcano Manor. Finish her dialogue, rest or reload, then travel back to Rykard's arena.
  3. Find Tanith eating beside Rykard's remains. Kill her only when you are ready to end her remaining dialogue for this journey. Her Crucible Knight then invades to defend her.
  4. Defeat Tanith's Knight for Aspects of the Crucible: Breath. Return to Tanith's body and collect Consort's Mask, Consort's Robe and Consort's Trousers; rest and return if the loot has not appeared yet.

Notes

  • Requires 27 Faith and one memory slot. The initial cast costs 28 FP, and keeping the breath going spends another 4 FP at each upkeep payment.
  • Deals Fire damage through repeated breath contacts, with each contact using 98% of Incantation Scaling before bonuses and defenses. The enemy must remain in the flame to take repeated hits.
  • Holding the cast extends the breath rather than producing one stronger charged release. You move forward at a walking pace during it, so leave space and watch the ground ahead.
  • Damage follows the casting seal's Incantation Scaling, not the attack power of your melee weapon. A Strength or Arcane contribution requires a seal that actually uses that attribute.
  • Each worn Crucible armor piece improves this incantation by 4%. Four pieces give about 17% together, and you can mix the matching Crucible variants. The bonus is separate from the seal's Incantation Scaling.
  • Roar Medallion improves the breath by 10% against enemies and 5% against other players. Fire damage bonuses and incantation bonuses also apply.
  • Godfrey Icon does not improve the channeled breath. Dragon Communion Seal and Clawmark Seal do not give their spell-group bonuses to it merely because the attack resembles a beast or dragon breath.
  • Repeated small hits can struggle against high Fire defense, and an enemy that resists stagger may walk through the flame to interrupt you. End the cast when you need to dodge instead of spending the rest of your FP.
  • Tanith's Knight gives this incantation after you kill Tanith in Rykard's arena. This ends her remaining dialogue for the journey. Her clothing is a separate pickup from her body.
  • Finish any Volcano Manor contracts and their rewards before defeating Rykard. Dancer's Castanets are not required to make the knight encounter available.
