Assassin's Approach

Prevents damage from a nonlethal fall while active. It cannot save you from a fatal fall or a death plane. The calculation requires a separately established fatal-fall result; it does not guess safety from a height or a health bar.

In-game description

Incantation of the Two Fingers' servants, who once served as the assassins of the Roundtable Hold.

Completely silences the footsteps of the caster. Additionally, reduces fall damage and the sound produced by falling.

This incantation can be cast while in motion or crouching.

The assassins were charged with eliminating Tarnished who had strayed from guidance.

Where to find

Assassin's Prayerbook, then Miriel's shop

Roundtable Hold

Starting Site of Grace: Table of Lost Grace

Before you go

  • Bring three Stonesword Keys if both barriers are still closed.
  1. From the central room at Roundtable Hold, take the passage past Hewg the blacksmith and go downstairs.
  2. Find the imp statue beside the first fog barrier. Spend one Stonesword Key to open it.
  3. In the room beyond, find the second sealed doorway on the left. This barrier needs two more keys.
  4. Pass through the second barrier and open the chest for Assassin's Prayerbook.
  5. Go to the Church of Vows on the raised ground in eastern Liurnia. From the Artist's Shack, follow the road north and take the uphill branch to the ruined church.
  6. Speak to Miriel, the enormous turtle inside, and give him Assassin's Prayerbook. Choose Purchase and buy Assassin's Approach for 2,000 runes; handing over the book only unlocks the stock.

Confessor starting equipment

  1. Choose Confessor when creating your character. This spell is included in that class's starting equipment. Other classes can obtain it through the purchase route.

Notes

  • Requires 10 Faith, one memory slot and a sacred seal. Each cast costs 15 FP and lasts 30 seconds.
  • Silences footsteps and removes damage from falls that would otherwise be survivable. It does not prevent a fatal fall or a scripted death below a cliff.
  • Quiet movement is different from visual invisibility. Enemies can still see you, so use cover and approach outside their line of sight.
  • Can be cast while moving or crouching. Casting before a close approach lets you keep the quieter movement without first standing in an enemy's view.
  • It replaces Soft Cotton, and Soft Cotton replaces it. Using both does not extend the safe falling distance or make you twice as quiet.
  • Old Lord's Talisman extends the duration to 39 seconds. More Faith or a stronger seal does not improve its silence or make fatal falls safe.
  • Confessor starts with this spell. Other characters can give the prayerbook to Miriel or Corhyn and buy it for 2,000 runes. A teacher's bearing preserves the spell only if the book was handed in before that teacher died.
