Erdtree incantations

One of the incantations of Erdtree Worship.

Greatly increases magic damage negation for the caster and nearby allies.

Hold to continue praying and delay activation.

This incantation was used by the champions of the Erdtree in the First and Second Liurnian Wars, during which the red-haired Radagon joined the heroes' ranks.

Invisible scarab below Erdtree Sanctuary

Leyndell, Royal Capital

Starting Site of Grace: Erdtree Sanctuary

Before you go

• Visit Leyndell before defeating Maliketh.

1. In Leyndell, Royal Capital, defeat the golden shade of Godfrey and activate Erdtree Sanctuary. This is the capital before Maliketh, not the later ash-covered version.
2. Leave the sanctuary to the west. Go down the stairs and ride the lift to the lower walkway.
3. Pass the two Perfumers near the lower landing and follow the path north toward the Crucible Knight. You do not need to defeat that knight to make the scarab appear.
4. Watch the gold footprints moving along the path. The scarab itself is invisible, so stand beside its route and time an attack as the footprints reach you.
5. Kill the scarab to receive Barrier of Gold. If it gets away, reset the area and try again before progressing past Maliketh.

Notes

• Reduces incoming Magic damage by 60% against enemies or 20% against players for 70 seconds. It applies to you and nearby allies when cast.
• Magic is a damage type here, rather than every attack produced by a spell. Physical sorceries such as Rock Sling do not become weaker merely because they were cast with a staff.
• This is a body buff. Other body buffs, including Boiled Crab, Flame, Grant Me Strength and other fortification spells, replace it. Golden Vow is a separate aura and can work alongside it.
• Its protection is fixed. More Faith or a stronger sacred seal does not increase the percentage, and holding the prayer only delays activation rather than charging a stronger version.
• Damage reduction multiplies with your existing protection. For example, 25% negation followed by a 60% reduction leaves you with 70% total negation, rather than 85%.
• Gather allies close before casting. The initial application reaches roughly six meters; it does not cover someone on the opposite side of an arena or a summon brought out afterward.
• Old Lord's Talisman extends your spell duration to 91 seconds. Recasting refreshes the protection rather than stacking another Barrier of Gold.
• Requires 24 Faith, one memory slot and a sacred seal. Costs 30 FP. Collect it before Maliketh changes Leyndell into the Ashen Capital.
