Starting Site of Grace: Grand Cloister
Before you go
- Reach the Lake of Rot and Grand Cloister through the underground route beyond Nokstella.
- Keep the Remembrance of the Naturalborn.
- Start at Caria Manor in northwestern Liurnia. Defeat Royal Knight Loretta and enter Three Sisters behind the manor. Visit Ranni at the top of Ranni's Rise and agree to serve her. Speak to the spirits downstairs, then return to Ranni to finish the conversation.
- Defeat Starscourge Radahn at Redmane Castle. Return to southern Mistwood and find the new crater near Fort Haight, marked by floating rocks. Descend using its ledges and enter Nokron, Eternal City.
- Work across Nokron's rooftops to the streets and continue to Mimic Tear. Defeat it and cross the long bridge beyond its arena. Leave the bridge on the left into the woods, then follow the cliff to Ancestral Woods grace.
- Jump from the cliff beside that grace onto the roof below. Follow the rooftops and narrow building ledges into Night's Sacred Ground. Continue across the broken stone arch into the church, descend inside, and leave onto the lower street. Follow that street to the enormous seated figure and open the chest underneath it for Fingerslayer Blade.
- Return the blade to Ranni at her tower. Before doing this, finish any remaining Seluvis rewards you want. Rest after speaking to Ranni, then visit Renna's Rise, the northern tower in Three Sisters. Climb it and use the sending gate to Ainsel River Main.
- Collect Miniature Ranni from the coffin near where you arrive. Rest at Ainsel River Main and select Talk to miniature Ranni repeatedly until she answers. Finish her dialogue.
- Follow the river through Uhl Palace Ruins, using cover against the hanging creature's projectiles. Continue through the ant tunnel to Nokstella. Follow the river at ground level through the city and take the lift in the small building at the far end to Nokstella Waterfall Basin.
- Go through the cave beyond Waterfall Basin and defeat the Baleful Shadow in the open red-lit area. Ranni gives you Discarded Palace Key. Return to Raya Lucaria Grand Library, where you defeated Rennala, and unlock the chest beside her for Dark Moon Ring.
- Return to the Baleful Shadow area and take the lift beyond it to Lake of Rot. Bring a way to remove Scarlet Rot. Cross toward the southwestern entrance to Grand Cloister, stepping on the raised platforms' switches to create places to stop.
- At Grand Cloister, descend the stone ledges to the lower floor. Watch for the Pests below. Follow the water left to the coffin beside the waterfall and choose to rest in it.
- Defeat Astel, Naturalborn of the Void beyond the coffin route to receive Remembrance of the Naturalborn. Dark Moon Ring is needed for the exit toward Moonlight Altar, not for this boss reward.
- Return to Enia at Roundtable Hold and exchange that Remembrance plus 10,000 runes for Bastard's Stars. Waves of Darkness is the alternative reward; duplicate the Remembrance at a suitable mausoleum if you want both.
Notes
- Requires 8 Strength, 22 Dexterity and 22 Intelligence, and weighs 5.5. Dexterity improves Physical damage and Intelligence improves Magic damage; its large Magic base and strong Intelligence scaling make Intelligence especially valuable overall.
- It is a short flail with Physical Strike and Magic damage. Unlike many ordinary flails, it has no innate Blood Loss buildup.
- Nebula costs 25 FP. You move forward with a sweeping flail strike and leave a trail of stars that explode shortly afterward.
- The actual flail contact uses the weapon's attack power. The separate explosions deal Magic damage through Intelligence and upgrades, so raising Dexterity for the swing does not improve the explosions in the same way.
- The swing and an explosion can hit the same enemy, but this version's explosions share a hit limit on that enemy. Several overlapping stars do not all damage one target independently.
- Wing of Astel has a different Nebula: it costs 20 FP and uses a shorter burst pattern that can land several explosions. Do not carry over that weapon's hit-count expectations to this flail.
- Shard of Alexander improves Nebula, and Spellblade armor or Magic bonuses improve its Magic explosions. Godfrey Icon does not help because the skill cannot be charged.
- The delayed blast can catch an enemy after the sweeping hit, but the long animation and short weapon reach still need an opening. Moving past the target can put the stars behind it instead of under it.
- Deals 20% extra damage against eligible gravity enemies. Uses Somber Smithing Stones to +10, has a fixed skill and affinity, and cannot use grease or weapon enchantments.
- Astel, Stars of Darkness in Yelough Anix Tunnel awards Meteorite of Astel instead. It does not give the Remembrance used for this flail.
