In-game description

A flail with three golden rings for striking heads, the sacred signature weapon of the esteemed Broken Mask.

The golden bands are modelled upon the Elden Ring itself, half-corporeal and half formed of light, all in the process of shattering.

A skill which houses the wheel of causality within the user's frame. Once activated, perform an additional input to unleash an attack. The potency of the attack builds charge tiers based on the number of hits taken.

Before you go

  • Have access to the additional weapons and armor content.
  • Learn and be able to cast Law of Regression.
  • Collect it before defeating Maliketh.
  1. Defeat Godfrey's golden shade in Leyndell and activate Erdtree Sanctuary grace in his arena.
  2. Go outside and climb the large tree root that leads to the sanctuary's upper balcony, on the route toward Queen's Bedchamber.
  3. Immediately after stepping through the upper doorway, turn left and drop onto the sanctuary roof instead of continuing toward the bedchamber.
  4. Go through the open window back into the building. Follow the branch inside toward the chair hanging above the main hall.
  5. Loot the corpse seated in that chair for Golden Order Principia. Watch your footing on the branch rather than dropping straight onto the arena floor.
  6. Give Golden Order Principia to Miriel or Corhyn and buy Law of Regression for 10,000 runes. Memorize it and equip a sacred seal. The spell requires 37 Intelligence and 55 FP, but no Faith of its own; temporary Intelligence equipment or flask effects can help.
  7. From Erdtree Sanctuary, take the western stairs and the small lift down. Descend to Radagon's statue and stand at the fixed message in front of it. Cast Law of Regression toward the statue and read the new message that appears.
  8. Casting Law of Regression at the statue triggers the Noble Broken Mask's invasion when the additional content is available. Defeat him for Golden Order Flail, Broken Gold Mask and the three Gold Tattoo pieces.
  9. Collect these before defeating Maliketh, which changes this part of Leyndell. The invader is a different character from the friendly Goldmask whose quest uses the statue's secret.

Notes

  • Requires 9 Strength, 16 Dexterity and 26 Faith, and weighs 5. Dexterity is the stronger of its two small Physical contributions, while Faith provides the main scaling for its Holy damage.
  • Deals Strike Physical damage alongside Holy damage. It has no innate Blood Loss, despite being a flail.
  • Causality's Wrath costs 24 FP to prepare a 90-second effect. Another skill input releases the golden attack without an additional FP charge.
  • The release starts at its first tier without taking a hit. One or two damaging hits taken raise it to the second tier, and three or more reach the third.
  • The tiers enlarge and strengthen the Holy attack, with 12, 18 and 24 stance damage respectively. Merely holding the button does not build those tiers.
  • Only hits that actually damage you build the effect. A shield that blocks every point of an incoming hit does not supply that damaging contact.
  • Shard of Alexander, Holy damage bonuses and Broken Gold Mask improve the release. Godfrey Icon does not because the hit-built tiers are not a charged skill.
  • The casting animation resists interruption but does not prevent damage. Do not take dangerous hits just to reach the last tier when a safe lower-tier release would finish the enemy.
  • Can perform backstabs and ripostes, and ordinary flail attacks cannot be parried. It is separate from the Law of Causality incantation and its automatic explosion.
  • Uses Somber Smithing Stones to +10. Its skill and affinity are fixed, and grease or weapon enchantments cannot be applied.
  • The Noble Broken Mask invasion is part of the additional weapon content. Use Law of Regression at Radagon's statue while Leyndell is still the Royal Capital; killing the friendly Goldmask does not give this reward.
