Bestial incantations

In-game description

Incantation taught by Gurranq, the Beast Clergyman.

Creates beast claws that rend the land with shockwaves.

Charging enhances potency.

This incantation represents the fury of Gurranq, his bestial nature returned, as much as it does his restless agitation.

Where to find

Bestial Sanctum

Greyoll's Dragonbarrow

Starting Site of Grace: Bestial Sanctum

Before you go

  • Give Gurranq 5 Deathroot in total.
  1. For an early start, follow the road east from Saintsbridge to Summonwater Village in northeastern Limgrave. Defeat the boat-riding Tibia Mariner among the flooded ruins and collect its Deathroot.
  2. Find Third Church of Marika in eastern Limgrave. Search the vegetation beside the stream behind the church for the sending gate. D can mark it after you show him a Deathroot, but speaking to him is optional.
  3. Use the gate to reach Bestial Sanctum, enter the large doors behind the arrival point and activate the grace inside. The Black Blade Kindred outside does not need to be fought.
  4. Speak to Gurranq at the far end of the hall and hand over Deathroot. His rewards follow the total number delivered, regardless of which roots you collect first.
  5. After the fourth delivery, a later visit can make Gurranq attack. Damage him until he yields, stop attacking and speak to him. Rest or reload before continuing the deliveries; do not kill him.
  6. Bring further Deathroot from Tibia Mariner rewards and the Deathroot chests behind dungeon bosses. Hand over 5 in total, then speak to Gurranq to receive Beast Claw.
  7. Memorize the incantation at a grace and equip a sacred seal to cast it. The reward does not automatically replace one of your memorized spells.

Notes

  • Requires 8 Faith, uses one memory slot and costs 10 FP. The shockwaves deal Slash Physical damage, so an enemy's Slash protection matters.
  • Sends five ground-hugging claw waves out in a forward fan. The spread covers a group, but the five visible fingers do not mean five full hits against one enemy.
  • Hold the cast input to charge it. Attack power rises from 193% to 222% of incantation scaling, and stance damage rises from 7 to 12.95 against enemies. These attack-power figures are applied before defenses.
  • Charging keeps the FP cost at 10 but takes more stamina and leaves you committed longer. Godfrey Icon boosts the fully charged cast; it does not improve the quick uncharged version.
  • The waves follow nearby surfaces, which helps on some slopes but makes the route between you and the enemy important. An opponent can jump over the ground wave.
  • This is the forward-facing incantation. Gurranq's Beast Claw surrounds the caster, while the weapon called Beast Claw and Regal Beastclaw skill are separate equipment.
  • Gurranq teaches it after five total Deathroot deliveries. Resolve his hostile interruption after the fourth offering without killing him.
  • Clawmark Seal or Cinquedea adds 10% damage while held in an active hand. Holding one of each gives 21% together. You still need a sacred seal to cast; carrying the dagger in an inactive slot does not supply the bonus.
  • Its damage uses the casting seal's incantation scaling. Faith supports an ordinary Faith-scaling seal, while Clawmark Seal lets Strength and Faith contribute together. The spell does not gain Strength scaling merely because it throws a rock or claw.
  • Physical attack bonuses such as Flame, Grant Me Strength can increase its damage. Magic, Fire and Lightning damage bonuses do not strengthen this Physical attack.
  • Defeating Maliketh does not remove Gurranq's remaining Deathroot rewards at Bestial Sanctum. Killing Gurranq there does end the remaining hand-ins.
