Godskin incantations

Effects

A black flame incantation of the Godskin Apostles.

Summons black fire within, increasing physical damage negation. However, sacred flasks and other such forms of HP restoration are impaired.

The Apostles were all embraced by the Gloam-Eyed Queen, and the black flame was their armor within.

Starting Site of Grace: Table of Lost Grace

Before you go

• Obtain both Haligtree Secret Medallion halves and follow the Ordina route to Miquella's Haligtree for this reward route.

1. Obtain the right Haligtree Secret Medallion half from Albus in the Village of the Albinaurics. He is disguised as a pot on the uphill path, before the bridge leading toward the Omenkiller.
2. Obtain the left half from the tower beyond Commander Niall at Castle Sol in the northern Mountaintops. After winning, continue behind his arena, ride the lift and loot the rooftop corpse.
3. Return to Grand Lift of Rold with both halves and switch to the secret-medallion prompt. The ordinary Rold Medallion sends you to a different destination.
4. Take the main stairs through Hidden Path to the Haligtree and leave into Consecrated Snowfield. Continue north through the blizzard, following the road toward Inner Consecrated Snowfield, then on to Ordina, Liturgical Town.
5. Activate Ordina's grace and find the evergaol seal toward the back of town. Enter it to light the four statues. Invisible assassins patrol the streets and Albinauric archers fire from the rooftops.
6. From the evergaol seal, go left down the stairs and left again to light the street-level statue. Head toward the second stairs leading toward the town grace, but take the path around the building on their right instead of going down.
7. Climb the ladder around that building and the next ladder to its rooftop statue. After lighting it, drop from the eastern side onto the red roof, cross the connected rooftops and climb the next pair of ladders to another statue.
8. Go down those ladders and return to the evergaol courtyard. Pass the right side of the building, drop to the snowy ground and head west around the next building to the last pair of ladders. Light the fourth statue to lift the seal.
9. Back in ordinary Ordina, climb the long northern staircase and use the sending gate at its top. Activate Haligtree Canopy when you arrive.
10. Once you have reached Haligtree Canopy, return to Gideon's study at Roundtable Hold. Ask about the secret medallion and finish his reward dialogue for Black Flame's Protection.
11. You do not need to defeat Malenia for this reward. Her defeat is tied to his separate Lord's Divine Fortification reward.
12. If Gideon has already left after Maliketh, buy the missed incantation from the Twin Maiden Husks for 2,500 runes.

Notes

• Reduces incoming physical damage by 35% against enemies or 15% against players for 70 seconds. Magic, Fire, Lightning and Holy portions do not receive this protection.
• HP restoration is impaired while it is active. Crimson Flask healing is reduced by 20%, so a flask that normally restores 500 HP restores 400 instead.
• The black fire is the appearance of the defensive buff. It does not add Fire damage, cause black-flame health drain or protect against Fire attacks.
• This is a body buff. Other body buffs, including Boiled Crab, Flame, Grant Me Strength and other fortification spells, replace it. Golden Vow is a separate aura and can work alongside it.
• The percentage is fixed and combines with armor by multiplication. Raising Faith or Incant Scaling does not improve the protection or remove its healing drawback.
• Old Lord's Talisman extends the effect to 91 seconds, including the healing drawback. It is worth accounting for both before extending a long boss attempt.
• Requires 30 Faith, one memory slot and a sacred seal. Costs 30 FP. This is a body incantation, rather than the short weapon enchantment Black Flame Blade.
