Compare body armor
The ten same-slot pieces closest in weight to Blackflame Monk Armor. Lower weight is lighter; higher poise, negation and resistance provide more protection. Negation differences are percentage points.
Weighs 11.8 and provides 24 poise. The complete outfit weighs 27 and provides 50 poise before weapons and talismans.
The four pieces drop separately from Blackflame Monks. The basement monk respawns, and the Godskin Apostle behind him is unnecessary for the farm.
The clothing does not boost Black Flame, add an HP-draining effect or improve incantation scaling. Fire protection and an offensive Fire bonus are different things.
In-game description
Black iron armor adorned with ashen cloth.
Attire of the Blackflame Monks.
The Blackflame Monks, enthralled by the god-slaying black flame, became traitors, abandoning their posts as guardians. The seduction of a taboo is never easily spurned.
Where to find
Divine Tower of Caelid basement
Greyoll's Dragonbarrow
Starting Site of Grace: Divine Tower of Caelid: Basement
Start at Dragonbarrow West in northern Caelid and ride northeast toward the enormous Divine Tower. Approach its southern side from the cliff beside the branching roots.
Use the raised root to reach the tower ledge with a torch-carrying soldier and ladder. Clear the soldier before climbing so you can line up the next ledge safely.
After the first ladder, follow the raised stone ledge around the tower, jumping its broken sections. Continue toward the guards and the next tall ladder, rather than taking a lower optional loot detour.
Climb to the higher ledge and follow it left to the tower opening. Activate Divine Tower of Caelid: Center before attempting the interior descent.
Take the eastern doorway and stairs down. The western route goes up toward Radahn's Great Rune and does not reach the armor.
Clear the two soldiers in the lit room, including the one waiting on the right. Drop through the open shaft edge onto the projecting stone platform below.
Stay against the wall and follow its narrow ledge to the next cracked support. Step onto it and let it collapse to the lower level; this is part of the intended route.
Face the large central pillar and work down the projecting stone beams and platforms beside it. Walk off toward each visible lower landing instead of running or jumping out into the middle of the shaft.
Continue down along the pillar to the ledge with a shielded soldier beside a cage lift. Defeat the soldier, enter the cage and ride upward.
At the upper landing, climb the nearby ladder and open the shortcut door back toward the center grace. Open it now so a later fall does not mean repeating the first descent.
Climb back down and follow the curved corridor. A Blackflame Monk waits around the corner; clear him before following the passage to its dead end.
At the end, use the narrow ledge on the left to reach the second cracked support below. Let it collapse, then take the next cage lift down.
Activate Divine Tower of Caelid: Basement. A second Blackflame Monk guards the stairs between this grace and the Godskin Apostle's fog door.
Defeat the Blackflame Monk on the stairs outside the boss fog and collect his glowing drops. Rest at the basement grace and repeat for the hood, armor, gauntlets and greaves.
The four armor pieces drop separately. The Godskin Apostle does not need to be defeated for this farm, and entering its fog door is unnecessary.
This farm supplies Blackflame Monk armor. The monk's curved sword is not part of the armor reward, so do not assume it will eventually drop from this enemy.
Notes
Weighs 11.8 and provides 24 poise. The complete outfit weighs 27 and provides 50 poise before weapons and talismans.
The four pieces drop separately from Blackflame Monks. The basement monk respawns, and the Godskin Apostle behind him is unnecessary for the farm.
The clothing does not boost Black Flame, add an HP-draining effect or improve incantation scaling. Fire protection and an offensive Fire bonus are different things.
This is a separate outfit from the red-clothed Fire Monk set. Neither can be tailored into the other, and none of the four Blackflame pieces has an altered form.
The monk's armor drops do not mean his curved sword drops from the same enemy. Farm armor here without expecting every visibly carried item to be obtainable from him.
Has a base 3% drop chance per eligible monk at 100 Discovery. Higher Discovery helps, but duplicates and empty kills are still possible.
