In-game description

Boiled crab meat.

A prime specimen of plump and moist meat.

True connoisseurs know how to keep from over-salting.

Greatly boosts physical damage negation for a certain duration.

Unlike the "prawn" sold, this truly is crab. Not that it matters, it's delicious all the same.

Where to find

Boggart's camp in the outer moat

Capital Outskirts

Starting Site of Grace: Outer Wall Battleground

Before you go

  • Befriend Boggart at Boilprawn Shack before Rya's necklace stage becomes unavailable.
  1. At Scenic Isle in southern Liurnia, head east toward the stone gazebo near the telescope. Speak to Rya about her stolen necklace before entering Volcano Manor, which ends this early meeting.
  2. Ride northwest across the shallow lake to Boilprawn Shack. Talk to Boggart beside the cooking pot, ask for the necklace and choose Deal to open the purchase.
  3. Buy Rya's Necklace for 1,000 runes. Buying it keeps Boggart alive and opens his prawn shop; purchase at least one Boiled Prawn if you want his later move and crab stock.
  4. Speak to Boggart again after buying the necklace and open his food shop. Buy Boiled Prawn for 600 runes each; buy at least one and finish his dialogue to make him friendly.
  5. Return the necklace to Rya when ready. Keep Boggart alive if you want him to move to the outer moat at Leyndell and sell Boiled Crab later.
  6. Reach Altus Plateau using Dectus or Ruin-Strewn Precipice. Follow the highway toward Leyndell and its outer walls, then reach the moat on the northern side of the capital.
  7. Find Boggart's cooking camp west of Capital Rampart, outside the walls. This is the ground-level outer moat, rather than a passage through the city.
  8. Speak to him and buy Boiled Crab for 600 runes each. Buy at least one before advancing the Dung Eater's encounter at this moat if you want the bearing shop to retain the crab supply.

Notes

  • Reduces physical damage taken by 20% against enemies or 15% against players for 60 seconds. It does not reduce the elemental portion of an attack.
  • This is a stronger alternative to Boiled Prawn, rather than a second food to stack with it. Both are body buffs, sharing that category with Exalted Flesh and Flame, Grant Me Strength.
  • The reduction multiplies with armor and other compatible protection. For example, 20% existing physical negation plus this 20% reduction gives 36% total against enemies, rather than 40%.
  • Unlock Boggart's prawn shop in Liurnia and buy at least one prawn before his move. Killing him at Boilprawn Shack prevents the later crab purchase.
  • The Dung Eater's moat events can kill him. Buy at least one crab beforehand if you want crab stock in the shop transferred through Blackguard's Bell Bearing.
  • Costs no FP, lasts through normal weapon changes and does not coat a weapon. Boggart sells unlimited stock for 600 runes each while his shop is available.
