Dragon Communion incantations

Superior incantation of Dragon Communion.

Channels the power of Borealis, the Freezing Fog.

Transforms caster into a dragon to spew icy breath from above.

Charging extends duration. This incantation can be cast while jumping.

The ice dragons were once lords of the mountaintops long ago, until they were defeated by the Fire Giants and chased from the peak.

Cathedral of Dragon Communion

Caelid

Starting Site of Grace: Cathedral of Dragon Communion

Before you go

• Bring 2 Dragon Hearts.
• Reach the Mountaintops of the Giants after Morgott, then follow the road north and east to Freezing Lake. Ride onto the lake and defeat Borealis, the Freezing Fog.

1. Use the ordinary Rold Medallion at the Grand Lift of Rold to reach the Mountaintops. From Zamor Ruins, follow the eastern path around north through the mountain gap and across the narrow stone crossing, using its low cover against the Golem's arrows.
2. Continue to Ancient Snow Valley Ruins and follow the valley north. Turn right along the frozen river, then climb the left-side path by the cliffs to Freezing Lake grace.
3. From Freezing Lake grace, ride east onto the frozen lake. The fog thickens as Borealis appears; defeat Borealis, the Freezing Fog, to unlock the purchase.
4. From Summonwater Village in northeastern Limgrave, follow the main road east into Caelid. Stay on the highway as it curves south around the Swamp of Aeonia toward Caelid Highway South.
5. Leave the southern road toward the ruined church on the hill south of the swamp. Decaying Ekzykes is near the approach; pass around the dragon if your chosen purchase does not require its defeat.
6. Enter Cathedral of Dragon Communion and activate its grace. A Banished Knight patrols the ruins, so clear the immediate area before trying the altar.
7. Interact with the red altar and choose the Dragon Communion menu. The price is paid in Dragon Hearts, rather than runes, and purchasing a spell is separate from equipping it at a grace.
8. Select Borealis's Mist and spend 2 Dragon Hearts.

Notes

• An airborne Magic breath that applies 110 Frostbite buildup per connecting hit. That is the same buildup per hit as Dragonice, rather than a more powerful status simply because this is the named version.
• Arcane and seal upgrades improve eligible direct damage through the casting seal, rather than raising the fixed Frostbite buildup.
• Can begin while jumping but cannot be cast while riding Torrent. Dragonice is the lower-cost grounded and mounted alternative.
• Holding the input extends the cast and spends more FP. It does not charge a single stronger blast for Godfrey Icon.
• Frostbite causes a burst and a temporary damage vulnerability. Another frost burst cannot trigger while the effect remains active; Fire damage removes it so buildup can begin again.
• Borealis's defeat unlocks the cathedral purchase. The spell is not a direct reward from the dragon, and you still need two Dragon Hearts.
• Cast with a sacred seal. Requires 23 Faith and 15 Arcane, uses 1 memory slot and costs 48 FP to start.
• Continuing the breath spends another 6 FP per continued-cast tick. The starting cost is therefore lower than the cost of holding the whole cast.
• A second breath wave also has its own starting cost. The FP needed to begin casting is different from the total spent across both waves.
• Roar Medallion improves its direct damage by 10% against enemies and 5% against other players. It does not increase fixed status buildup or debuff percentages.
• Dragon Communion Seal gives a 15% damage bonus while held in an active hand, even if another seal performs the cast. Its damage scaling uses Faith and Arcane; a different seal uses its own attributes.
• Rock Heart's activated Dragon Communion bonus and bonuses for the spell's actual damage type improve the direct attack. They do not raise fixed status buildup or turn missed breath hits into guaranteed damage.
• Its direct damage is reduced by 20% against other players. Enemy resistance, missed hits and the separate status effect still matter in addition to that PvP adjustment.
