In-game description
One of the incantations of Dragon Communion.
Transforms caster into a dragon to spew flaming breath.
Charging extends duration.
Incantation of those who have hunted dragons and feasted upon their hearts. Theirs is a pure and overwhelming power.
Where to find
Cathedral of Dragon Communion
Caelid
Starting Site of Grace: Cathedral of Dragon Communion
Before you go
- From Summonwater Village in northeastern Limgrave, follow the main road east into Caelid. Stay on the highway as it curves south around the Swamp of Aeonia toward Caelid Highway South.
- Leave the southern road toward the ruined church on the hill south of the swamp. Decaying Ekzykes is near the approach; pass around the dragon if your chosen purchase does not require its defeat.
- Enter Cathedral of Dragon Communion and activate its grace. A Banished Knight patrols the ruins, so clear the immediate area before trying the altar.
- Interact with the red altar and choose the Dragon Communion menu. The price is paid in Dragon Hearts, rather than runes, and purchasing a spell is separate from equipping it at a grace.
- Select Dragonfire and spend 1 Dragon Heart.
Church of Dragon Communion
Limgrave
Starting Site of Grace: Coastal Cave
Before you go
- From The First Step in Limgrave, head west to the cliff and use the descending route to the beach. Follow the beach north to Coastal Cave and bring a torch or lantern inside.
- Continue through the cave to the Demi-Human Chiefs and defeat them. Keep going through the passage beyond the arena instead of using the return-to-entrance marker.
- The passage emerges on the offshore island. Climb to the ruined Church of Dragon Communion and use its red altar.
- Spend one Dragon Heart on Dragonfire. You can use a heart from any eligible dragon; it does not have to come from Agheel.
Notes
- Breathes Fire across a wide area. It does not inflict Scarlet Rot, Frostbite or Blood Loss, and its damage is separate from Dragonclaw's physical slam.
- Holding the input extends the breath and spends more FP, rather than charging one larger hit. Godfrey Icon does not boost it as a charged spell.
- You can sweep the breath across a group, but keeping it on one target lands more of its repeated hits. Walls, range and moving enemies can prevent part of a wave from connecting.
- Can be cast while riding Torrent. That is a practical difference from Agheel's Flame, whose airborne cast needs you to dismount.
- Agheel's Flame has higher requirements and a more expensive airborne cast. Dragonfire is the lower-cost grounded option and is available without defeating Agheel specifically.
- Cast with a sacred seal. Requires 15 Faith and 12 Arcane, uses 1 memory slot and costs 28 FP to start.
- Continuing the breath spends another 4 FP per continued-cast tick. The starting cost is therefore lower than the cost of holding the whole cast.
- A second breath wave also has its own starting cost. The FP needed to begin casting is different from the total spent across both waves.
- Roar Medallion improves its direct damage by 10% against enemies and 5% against other players. It does not increase fixed status buildup or debuff percentages.
- Dragon Communion Seal gives a 15% damage bonus while held in an active hand, even if another seal performs the cast. Its damage scaling uses Faith and Arcane; a different seal uses its own attributes.
- Rock Heart's activated Dragon Communion bonus and bonuses for the spell's actual damage type improve the direct attack. They do not raise fixed status buildup or turn missed breath hits into guaranteed damage.
- Its direct damage is reduced by 20% against other players. Enemy resistance, missed hits and the separate status effect still matter in addition to that PvP adjustment.
