Dragon Cult incantations

In-game description

One of the incantations of the capital's ancient dragon cult.

Calls down lightning to charge the caster's body.

While charged, electric shocks will strike the area several times.

Charging increases potency.

The origin of incantations that bolster the body with lightning, and now a lost art in the Lands Between.

Where to find

Hidden side rooms in Fog Rift Catacombs

Gravesite Plain

Starting Site of Grace: Fog Rift Catacombs

Before you go

  • To enter the Realm of Shadow, defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, then touch the withered arm in Mohg's arena at Mohgwyn Palace.
  1. From Castle Front, follow the road north beneath the fort's wooden structures into the foggy woodland. Continue past the Shadow Militiamen to the catacomb doors between two pale braziers. Enter, take the lift down, and activate the grace.
  2. Follow the passage past the first Imp. Approach each spike-ceiling room cautiously, trigger the ceiling from the doorway, then retreat. Cross only after it hits the floor and begins rising.
  3. Continue past the first trap and down the stairs to the next spike-ceiling chamber. Drop to its lower floor and move into the recess beneath the ledge. Time another crossing to reach the lift leading farther down.
  4. Follow the lower passage through the Imp rooms to the long hall with three falling ceiling sections. Move between the side alcoves one at a time as the traps rise. The spell route uses a hole in a side alcove rather than continuing to the boss.
  5. In that long room with three falling ceiling sections, reach the second alcove on the left. Drop through the opening in its floor instead of continuing to the raised altar at the far end.
  6. In the lower passage, turn left and then left again. Clear the Catacombs Sorcerer and slimes in the side rooms, then collect Electrocharge beside the Fulgurblooms.
  7. This is a side-room pickup. The Death Knight boss and riding the spike ceiling to the upper treasure rooms are unnecessary.

Notes

  • Requires 30 Faith, one memory slot and a sacred seal. Both an ordinary and charged cast cost 26 FP; charging raises the stamina cost.
  • Calls down an initial close-range bolt, then surrounds you with small lightning pulses for 45 seconds. Charging strengthens both the opening bolt and the later pulses without extending the duration.
  • The initial bolt is the main immediate hit. The lingering pulses deal much smaller hits and require an enemy to remain very close; this does not turn your melee weapon into a lightning-enchanted weapon.
  • The pulses deal no stance damage. They do not keep a boss's stance recovery from starting just because small HP damage continues to appear.
  • It occupies the body-buff slot. It replaces effects such as Flame, Grant Me Strength or a defensive liver buff rather than stacking with them, and recasting another body buff removes Electrocharge.
  • The pulses can remove a nearby enemy's damage-reducing bubble or finish a reviving skeleton before it stands up. That is different from a permanent anti-resurrection effect; it still has to reach the remains.
  • Charging takes longer, so prepare it before committing to close combat if possible. It does not provide the damage-negation benefit of the defensive body buff you replaced.
  • Damage follows the casting seal's Incantation Scaling. A Faith seal improves through Faith; a hybrid seal can use its other scaling attributes too, while the spell's Faith requirement still has to be met.
  • Gravel Stone Seal boosts this Dragon Cult incantation by 15% while held in an active hand, even if a different seal casts it. Two active copies multiply to 32.25%. Death Knight armor adds its separate 2% bonus per piece.
  • Lightning damage bonuses apply, but physical- or fire-only bonuses do not. Dragon Communion Seal's school bonus does not apply simply because an ancient dragon is named in the incantation.
  • Godfrey Icon boosts the eligible charged damage by 15%. It does not strengthen an uncharged cast.
