In-game description
Incantation that channels the power of the Dragonkin Soldiers.
Creates a spear of ice lightning and stabs it into the ground from above. On impact, the spear will burst into trails of lightning advancing forwards.
The Dragonkin were born in the Eternal City, where they knew no true sky, nor true lightning. Instead, ice lightning was their weapon.
Where to find
Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella arena
Ainsel River
Starting Site of Grace: Ainsel River Downstream
- On eastern Liurnia's plateau, head north from Eastern Tableland to the round Ainsel River Well building. Ride the lift down and activate Ainsel River Well Depths grace.
- Take the tunnel on the left toward the giant ants. Watch the ceiling as well as the floor; drawing them down one at a time is safer than being surrounded beneath them.
- At the first lit junction, turn right. The left branch ends at a Smithing Stone pickup rather than the route onward.
- At the next split in the chamber full of corpses, take the right branch toward the large stone structure. Climb the path on the right and cross the bridge back to the left.
- Activate Ainsel River Sluice Gate grace in the cave ahead before using the lift directly to the right of the bridge's far end. Ride that lift down instead of jumping from the upper ruins.
- Follow the lower ruins through the Claymen and the lit entrance into the large open chamber. A hanging creature at the far end fires stones across this room.
- Use the stone walls and pillars as cover while approaching the building directly beneath that creature. The Hermit Merchant is sheltering inside; killing the creature is optional.
- Leave the merchant building and follow the water into the tunnel on the western side of the large cavern. Climb onto the raised ground on your right for Ainsel River Downstream grace.
- Continue through the water tunnel past the ant nest. At the split, take the right-hand passage; the left branch ends at a ledge overlooking the Lake of Rot.
- Follow the passage into the huge chamber with the seated skeleton. The Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella appears as you enter the arena.
- Defeat the Dragonkin Soldier to receive Frozen Lightning Spear automatically. The chest beneath the giant throne contains a separate Great Ghost Glovewort.
- This is the lower river reached from Liurnia's well. You do not need Ranni's quest or access to the upper city of Nokstella.
Notes
- Requires 34 Faith, one memory slot and a sacred seal. Each cast costs 29 FP and 39 stamina.
- You jump up, drive the spear down and send lightning forward across the ground. This deals Lightning damage and builds Frostbite rather than dealing a separate ice damage type.
- The advancing fields overlap in places. Large enemies, or an enemy standing where two fields meet, can be hit more than once by a cast. A small moving enemy can slip between the strikes, so the full damage is not guaranteed.
- Each damaging strike applies 120 Frostbite buildup. Faith and your seal's Incantation Scaling improve the lightning damage, but they do not increase that fixed frost buildup. Arcane does not increase Frostbite buildup either.
- Damage follows the casting seal's Incantation Scaling. With an ordinary Faith seal, Faith improves that scaling; a hybrid seal can use its own additional scaling attributes. You still need 34 Faith to cast.
- Gravel Stone Seal boosts this Dragon Cult incantation by 15% while held in an active hand, including when another seal does the casting. Two active seals multiply to a 32.25% bonus. Death Knight armor also boosts Dragon Cult incantations by 2% per piece.
- Lightning damage bonuses strengthen the lightning hits, not the Frostbite buildup or its burst. The blue lightning is not a cold sorcery and does not gain a snow-witch sorcery bonus.
- The long casting motion leaves you exposed before the ground strikes spread. Give yourself room to finish rather than starting it when an enemy is already winding up a close-range attack.
