In-game description
One of the incantations of Dragon Communion.
Transforms caster into a dragon to spew ghostflame breath from above.
Charging extends duration. This incantation can be used while jumping.
The land of spiritgraves is home to all manner of dead, and even the corpses of fallen dragons found their way there. Several of them were endowed with such vivacity that even in death, they could not fully die.
Where to find
Grand Altar of Dragon Communion
Jagged Peak
Starting Site of Grace: Grand Altar of Dragon Communion
Before you go
- To enter the Realm of Shadow, defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, then touch the withered arm in Mohg's arena at Mohgwyn Palace.
- Bring three Dragon Hearts.
- Enter the Realm of Shadow by defeating Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, then touching the withered arm in Mohg's arena. Reach Three-Path Cross and cross the eastern bridge toward Castle Front.
- From Castle Front, follow the southeastern road toward Pillar Path Waypoint. Take the southern path past the broken dragon statues toward Dragon's Pit; the Ancient Dragon-Man may invade on the approach.
- Inside Dragon's Pit, descend through the cave to the large chamber and the deep chasm beyond it. Make the intended drop into the pit, then defeat the Ancient Dragon-Man boss. The Magma Wyrm in the side chamber is a separate optional fight.
- Leave through the passage beyond his arena to reach Dragon's Pit Terminus. Ride into the drake basin and follow the southern route toward the enormous dead dragon at Grand Altar of Dragon Communion.
- Interact with the altar by the dead dragon and spend three Dragon Hearts on Ghostflame Breath. You do not have to defeat Bayle for this purchase.
Notes
- Deals Magic damage and 55 Frostbite buildup per connecting hit. Despite the name, it deals neither Fire damage nor Death Blight.
- Its individual Magic hits are stronger than Dragonice's, but its Frostbite buildup is half as large: 55 instead of 110. Choose it for damage and airborne coverage rather than assuming it is the fastest frost option.
- The Frostbite buildup does not increase with Arcane or seal upgrades. The casting seal's Incantation Scaling improves the direct Magic damage.
- Can begin while jumping, but cannot be cast while riding Torrent. Holding the input extends the breath with more FP expenditure instead of providing a Godfrey Icon charge bonus.
- Once Frostbite triggers, it cannot trigger again until its active effect ends or Fire damage removes it. More Magic damage from this breath does not immediately reset that status.
- Bought for three ordinary Dragon Hearts at Grand Altar of Dragon Communion. Heart of Bayle is a different currency for the two Bayle incantations, and Bayle does not need to die for this purchase.
- Cast with a sacred seal. Requires 23 Faith and 15 Arcane, uses 1 memory slot and costs 36 FP to start.
- Continuing the breath spends another 6 FP per continued-cast tick. The starting cost is therefore lower than the cost of holding the whole cast.
- A second breath wave also has its own starting cost. The FP needed to begin casting is different from the total spent across both waves.
- Roar Medallion improves its direct damage by 10% against enemies and 5% against other players. It does not increase fixed status buildup or debuff percentages.
- Dragon Communion Seal gives a 15% damage bonus while held in an active hand, even if another seal performs the cast. Its damage scaling uses Faith and Arcane; a different seal uses its own attributes.
- Rock Heart's activated Dragon Communion bonus and bonuses for the spell's actual damage type improve the direct attack. They do not raise fixed status buildup or turn missed breath hits into guaranteed damage.
- Its direct damage is reduced by 20% against other players. Enemy resistance, missed hits and the separate status effect still matter in addition to that PvP adjustment.
