About this item

Consumes one prepared nail and 4 FP to launch a Magic projectile that fragments during flight. Its damage scales only with Intelligence.

It uses the item's own scaling, rather than the Sorcery Scaling of a staff. A staff and memorized Finger Sorcery are unnecessary.

The fragments need room and time to reach the enemy. A wall or a fast retreat can waste part of the attack, so do not assume the whole sequence connects.

In-game description

Nailstone with shining fingerprints floating above.

Craftable item.

Uses FP to fling a magic nail that crumbles during flight.

The lampreys that guard the finger ruins resemble fingers far more than they do humans, and so the finger-weavers imitated their sorcery.

Where to find

Crafting after obtaining Finger-Weaver's Cookbook [1]

Cerulean Coast

Starting Site of Grace: Finger Ruins of Rhia

Before you go

  • Crafting Kit
  • Finger-Weaver's Cookbook [1]
  • Ingredients per batch: 3 Nailstone and 1 Pearlescent Scale
  1. From Castle Front, ride south to the crossroads, turn east and follow the road to the next fork. Take the right-hand dirt track, then the left fork downhill toward the southeast.
  2. Pass the bloodfiends and descend into the shallow poison area. Follow the lower path down toward the river rather than climbing toward the fort; watch for militia and poison traps along the descent.
  3. At the bottom is a shallow pool with a giant crab. Turn southwest into the opening in the cliff, continue through the cave past the Revered Spirit Ash chamber and activate Ellac River Cave grace.
  4. Leave by the southern cave exit and turn south along the river. Use Torrent to cross the successive rock ledges beside the waterfall, landing on the nearby rocks rather than jumping to the valley floor.
  5. Continue down the ledge path past the stone birds, watching for the living ones to attack. Drop down the short rock steps to Ellac River Downstream grace.
  6. From Downstream, continue south beside the lower falls. Cross the long rock pillar toward the east and use its far side to reach the lower water safely.
  7. The lower basin opens toward a Furnace Golem. Its fight is optional for reaching the coast, the friendly forager or the lightning-flower pond.
  8. Head through the eastern wooded side of the basin, then follow the passage southwest through the cliffs to Cerulean Coast grace. The blue-flowered field beyond confirms you have reached the coast.
  9. From Cerulean Coast grace, ride south through the blue flowers past the enormous stone coffins. Avoid or circle the Ghostflame Dragon if you do not want to fight.
  10. Continue south along the rising path to the roadside map stele. Beyond it the path bends west; look southeast for Miquella's Cross and activate Cerulean Coast Cross grace.
  11. From the cross, use the eastern cliff descent onto the great stone coffin on the beach, then follow the beach northeast and east through the shallows. Watch for Fingercreepers hidden in the sand.
  12. Climb the sloping stone coffin at the far end of the beach and follow its upper end northeast into Finger Ruins of Rhia. Activate the grace before continuing.
  13. Search the southwestern edge of the ruins beneath the high cliffs for the side path leading out of the basin. Follow it through the Fingercreepers to Finger-Weaver's Hovel.
  14. Enter the broken shack and loot the corpse for the cookbook. Speaking to the ghost is optional for the pickup; the hanging bell is elsewhere in the ruins.
  15. Buy the Crafting Kit from Kale at the Church of Elleh if Item Crafting is still unavailable.
  16. Collect 3 Nailstone and 1 Pearlescent Scale. Outside combat, open Item Crafting and select Glinting Nail. One batch makes 1.

Notes

  • Consumes one prepared nail and 4 FP to launch a Magic projectile that fragments during flight. Its damage scales only with Intelligence.
  • It uses the item's own scaling, rather than the Sorcery Scaling of a staff. A staff and memorized Finger Sorcery are unnecessary.
  • The fragments need room and time to reach the enemy. A wall or a fast retreat can waste part of the attack, so do not assume the whole sequence connects.
  • One craft uses three Nailstones and one Pearlescent Scale and makes one Glinting Nail. It is not a five-dart batch despite its small size.
  • The cookbook is at Finger-Weaver's Hovel above the southwestern side of Finger Ruins of Rhia. The high ledge is reached from the coast, rather than by climbing the enormous stone fingers.
  • Its name does not mean it grants a permanent spell or changes your weapon's skill. Every use spends the item again.
