Before you go

• Have 6,000 runes.
• Give Dragon Cult Prayerbook to the teacher you will buy from.

1. Reach the eastern Liurnia plateau and find Artist's Shack beside the road. Activate its grace before starting the fight.
2. Follow the road south from the shack and look for the lone knight in golden armor patrolling the path.
3. Defeat that knight and collect the dropped Dragon Cult Prayerbook. Keep space around you so other enemies do not join while he is using lightning attacks.
4. Check the pickup name before returning to the grace. This is the specific knight's book reward, rather than a random drop to farm from every soldier.
5. Travel to Church of Vows on eastern Liurnia's plateau. From Artist's Shack in Liurnia, follow the road north and take the uphill branch to the ruined church. Speak to Miriel, the large turtle wearing a white mitre.
6. Give Miriel Dragon Cult Prayerbook, open his shop and buy Lightning Spear for 6,000 runes. Giving away the book unlocks the stock; it does not award the spell for free.

Notes

• Requires 17 Faith, one memory slot and a sacred seal. Both an ordinary and charged cast cost 18 FP. Charging uses more stamina and takes longer, rather than requiring a second FP payment.
• Throws a lightning spear forward. Hold the cast to strengthen it and add lightning at the point of impact. A quick throw is often safer when an enemy is already closing the distance.
• The uncharged version is useful against enemies that reactively dodge other projectiles. That does not guarantee a hit: a moving target, its existing dodge or a blocked line of fire can still make it miss. Charging can provoke a different response.
• Water can produce a small additional lightning splash around the impact. Aim at the enemy rather than expecting the splash to reach something far from the landing point.
• Brother Corhyn is the other teacher who can receive Dragon Cult Prayerbook. Miriel provides a convenient fixed location, and neither teacher needs to be killed for the spell.
• Damage follows the casting seal's Incantation Scaling. A Faith seal improves through Faith; a hybrid seal can use its other scaling attributes too, while the spell's Faith requirement still has to be met.
• Gravel Stone Seal boosts this Dragon Cult incantation by 15% while held in an active hand, even if a different seal casts it. Two active copies multiply to 32.25%. Death Knight armor adds its separate 2% bonus per piece.
• Lightning damage bonuses apply, but physical- or fire-only bonuses do not. Dragon Communion Seal's school bonus does not apply simply because an ancient dragon is named in the incantation.
• Godfrey Icon boosts the eligible charged damage by 15%. It does not strengthen an uncharged cast.
