In-game description

A Great Rune of the shardbearer Mohg.

Its blessing grants a blessing of blood to summoned phantoms, and imparts a Phantom Great Rune upon successful invasion.

Mohg and Morgott are twin brothers, and their Great Runes are naturally similar.

But Mohg's rune is soaked in accursed blood, from his devout love for the wretched mire that he was born into far below the earth.

Where to find

Boss reward, then Divine Tower of East Altus

Mohgwyn Palace / Capital Outskirts

Starting Site of Grace: Dynasty Mausoleum Midpoint

  1. Defeat a Shardbearer such as Godrick, then speak to Finger Reader Enia at Roundtable Hold.
  2. Find Varre at Rose Church on an island southwest of Raya Lucaria Academy in Liurnia. Tell him the Two Fingers did not seem right and receive his Festering Bloody Fingers.
  3. Attempt three player invasions, or use the red invasion sign at Writheblood Ruins in Altus Plateau to defeat Magnus the Beast Claw. Defeating Magnus once satisfies this stage without online play.
  4. Return to Varre and accept the anointing to receive Lord of Blood's Favor.
  5. For maiden's blood without killing a friendly NPC, go to the Church of Inhibition in northeastern Liurnia. Follow the uphill route past Frenzied Flame Village, take cover from the tower's Madness and deal with Vyke if he invades.
  6. Interact with the dead maiden seated inside the church to stain the favor. Return to Varre at Rose Church and agree to offer your finger.
  7. After receiving Bloody Finger, continue speaking to Varre. He gives you Pureblood Knight's Medal; do not leave after the finger reward.
  8. Use Pureblood Knight's Medal to reach Mohgwyn Palace. Activate Dynasty Mausoleum Entrance and climb the broad stairs through the bleeding corpses toward the dark mausoleum passage.
  9. Follow the passage upward, watching for the Sanguine Nobles inside. Leave the cave at Dynasty Mausoleum Midpoint and activate the grace.
  10. Continue up the stairs and ride the large lift to Mohg's arena. Defeat Mohg, Lord of Blood to receive his remembrance. Mohg, the Omen in the capital sewers is a separate boss.
  11. To restore the rune, return to Leyndell's eastern exit along the route toward the Forbidden Lands. At the lift building, take the upper bridge east instead of riding down.
  12. Continue toward the tower. When the surroundings turn dark, defeat the Fell Twins ambush to clear the route.
  13. Enter Divine Tower of East Altus, ride the lift and restore the rune at the dead Two Fingers.

Notes

  • While active, grants a blood blessing to summons. Blood loss nearby can strengthen their attacks, and their kills can restore HP to you.
  • If you invade while the rune is active, you receive temporary Phantom Great Runes to pass the blood blessing to enemies in the host's world.
  • After restoring it, rest at a Site of Grace, equip the Great Rune and use a Rune Arc to activate its blessing.
  • The blessing ends when you die. You keep the rune, but need another Rune Arc to activate it again.
  • Obtaining or restoring the rune does not permanently add the listed stats to your character.
  • Mohg and Morgott share the same restoration tower. Defeating sewer Mohg does not award this Great Rune.
  • The blood blessing acts through the spirits or enemies you bless. It is different from equipping Lord of Blood's Exultation to give your own attacks a nearby-blood-loss bonus.
  • The temporary Phantom Great Runes are invasion items. They are not extra permanent Great Runes you can restore at a second tower or keep as ordinary inventory rewards.
  • You must earn and restore this Great Rune again in a new Journey. The permanent item is not kept the way a purchased weapon or talisman is.
  • Nearby Blood Loss strengthens the blessed spirit rather than giving your own character that attack bonus. A spirit’s kill can heal you; those are separate events and recipients.
  • The blood blessing is not a general healing effect on every ordinary attack. It does not replace spirit reinforcement or make a summon able to ignore a lethal hit.
  • An invasion gives three temporary Phantom Great Runes while this blessing is active. Use those items near enemies to share the invasion version; arriving alone does not bless every enemy across the map.
  • Dying as an invader does not consume the Great Rune blessing in your own world in the same way as dying there. Returning for another invasion can provide the temporary items again.
