In-game description

A great katana with the tempering pattern of its blade forever stained red with blood. Weapon of Rakshasa, who cuts down and devours.

A berserker's weapon used to endure enemy attacks and reply with one's full fury. When attacking, the wielder is less likely to stagger from counterattacks, but will also take increased damage.

Performs scythe-like horizontal swings with the sword, cutting men down as if they were weeds. Additional inputs allow for the continuation of the attack for as long as stamina remains.

Starting Site of Grace: Recluses' River Downstream

Before you go

  • To enter the Realm of Shadow, defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, then touch the withered arm in Mohg's arena at Mohgwyn Palace.
  • Reach Recluses' River through the coffin passage beneath Shadow Keep.
  1. To enter the Realm of Shadow, defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, then touch the withered arm in Mohg's arena at Mohgwyn Palace.
  2. For the main Shadow Keep approach, defeat the Golden Hippopotamus and activate Main Gate Plaza grace. Follow the left-hand route through the keep to the upper courtyard lined with burning boats. Watch for the Militiamen hiding beside them.
  3. At the southeastern end of the boat courtyard, find the ladder beside the outer railing and descend to the water. Walk behind the waterfall and take the second ladder down to the painting room.
  4. Strike the false wall beside the Domain of Dragons painting. Follow the revealed passage and rest in the stone coffin to arrive at Castle Watering Hole.
  5. Head south past Ruins of Unte, avoiding the active Furnace Golem. Follow the eastern, left-hand cliff beside the waterfall to Recluses' River Upstream grace.
  6. Continue south along the cliff ledges. Where the route changes sides, jump across to the western, right-hand bank and follow it down to Recluses' River Downstream grace. Clear nearby Man-Flies before attempting the drops.
  7. From Recluses' River Downstream, look below the cliff for the large gravestones. Descend them carefully to the first lower river branch. Stop at this river level rather than continuing over the next waterfall toward the lower hippo lake and Darklight Catacombs.
  8. Follow this river east and southeast around its bend. At the next waterfall, look left for Eastern Nameless Mausoleum. Enter and go down the stairs to the fog gate.
  9. Defeat Rakshasa for her great katana and all four armor pieces. Her long sweeping skill can continue through repeated swings; back away until the sequence ends instead of trying to interrupt every slash.

Notes

  • Requires 12 Strength and 27 Dexterity, and weighs 9.5. Physical scaling strongly favors Dexterity, with a smaller Strength contribution.
  • Applies 55 fixed Blood Loss buildup on ordinary full-status hits. It has no Arcane scaling, and its fixed affinity cannot be changed to Blood or Occult.
  • Its ordinary heavy, charged heavy and retreating feint have piercing contacts. The feint can still look like a slash, so animation alone does not establish the Physical damage type.
  • The weapon helps resist interruption during attacks, with increased vulnerability while attacking as its tradeoff. That is separate from the armor outfit's damage bonus, and does not make trading hits safe.
  • Weed Cutter costs 8 FP for each pair of sweeping slashes and 26 stamina per pair. Further inputs repeat the two-swing pattern while FP and stamina remain.
  • Each swing can apply full Blood Loss buildup. The two contacts give 5.5 stance damage each, for 11 per pair before later repetitions.
  • The first skill stage resists interruption more strongly than its follow-ups. Continuing indefinitely does not preserve the same protection throughout every repetition.
  • Shard of Alexander improves Weed Cutter, and its repeated hits can build consecutive-hit bonuses. Godfrey Icon does not because repeating the skill is not charging it.
  • Weed Cutter can be parried. Against another player, predictable repeated swings can hand them an opening even when the skill resists ordinary stagger.
  • Uses Somber Smithing Stones to +10. Its skill and affinity are fixed, and grease or weapon enchantments cannot be applied.
  • Rakshasa gives both weapon and armor in Eastern Nameless Mausoleum. Stop at the correct Recluses' River branch; continuing down the later waterfall leads away toward Darklight Catacombs.
