Where to find
Greyoll's Dragonbarrow
Starting Site of Grace: Fort Faroth
Before you go
- Use a version with the Tarnished Edition additions available.
- From Fort Faroth, ride north toward Elder Dragon Greyoll. Look for the enormous pale, skull-shaped mound beside the dragon.
- Climb the mound on Torrent and loot the corpse on top for the katana. You do not need to enter the fort or kill Greyoll.
Notes
- Requires 11 Strength and 16 Dexterity, and weighs 10. Standard Physical scaling favors Dexterity, with a smaller Strength contribution.
- Applies 55 Blood Loss buildup on ordinary full-status hits. Standard has no Arcane scaling, so Arcane does not improve that fixed buildup unless the chosen affinity adds eligible scaling.
- Compared with Great Katana, it has higher starting damage and lower requirements, but shorter reach, weaker scaling and one more point of weight. Its main access advantage is being found in Dragonbarrow.
- Overhead Stance is the starting skill. Holding the stance costs no FP; the light follow-up costs 8 FP for one strike, while the heavy follow-up costs 10 FP for a three-strike sequence.
- Rellana's Cameo improves a qualifying follow-up after holding the stance for one second. Shard of Alexander adds its separate skill bonus; ordinary charged heavies follow Axe Talisman's rule instead.
- Dodging during a charged-heavy wind-up gives the Great Katana retreating feint. It is a class moveset option, not another Ash that needs to be installed.
- An ordinary Katana in the other hand does not produce a paired Great Katana moveset. The class also has actual thrusting contacts among its broad slashes.
- Uses ordinary Smithing Stones to +25. Can use compatible Ashes of War. Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs.
- Keeping Overhead Stance while changing affinity requires the separate Ash, found much later in the Realm of Shadow. Another compatible Ash can be installed earlier if you prefer its skill and affinity options.
- The corpse is on the pale skull-shaped mound beside Greyoll near Fort Faroth. Neither entering the fort nor killing Greyoll is required.
- Requires the additional weapon content. Its availability outside the Realm of Shadow does not mean it appears in an installation without those additions.
