About this item

Can be used both as a crafting ingredient and as a thrown stone. A throw consumes one, costs no FP and does very little damage, making it more useful for drawing an enemy toward you than finishing a tough fight.

Lock onto a target before throwing if you want to pull it away from a group. The impact can alert nearby enemies too, so it is not a guarantee that only one enemy notices you.

Used for Rainbow Stones, Glowstones, Scriptstones and the craftable Rainbow Stone Arrow. Those recipes have their own unlocks and other ingredient costs; simply owning fragments does not unlock every recipe.

In-game description

Stone fragment found near places where ruins have fallen from the sky.

Can be used for crafting, or simply for throwing at enemies.

These shards of stone are believed to have once been part of a temple in the sky.

They glow with a faint light from within.

Where to find

Fallen stone ruins on Stormhill

Limgrave

Starting Site of Grace: Gatefront

  1. From Gatefront grace in Limgrave, take the uphill road west through Stormgate. The troll drops into the pass above the soldiers, so keep moving or clear the entrance before stopping to collect materials.
  2. When the pass opens onto Stormhill, look across the grass beside the road for the large blocks of fallen stone ruins. The fragments are pale glowing pickups on and around this broken masonry.
  3. Walk around the ruins and collect the loose fragments. Watch for stone clusters that wake as you approach; those enemies can also drop Ruin Fragments.
  4. These are selected accessible ruins, not a single chest or boss reward. Similar fallen masonry elsewhere also holds fragments.

Notes

  • Can be used both as a crafting ingredient and as a thrown stone. A throw consumes one, costs no FP and does very little damage, making it more useful for drawing an enemy toward you than finishing a tough fight.
  • Lock onto a target before throwing if you want to pull it away from a group. The impact can alert nearby enemies too, so it is not a guarantee that only one enemy notices you.
  • Used for Rainbow Stones, Glowstones, Scriptstones and the craftable Rainbow Stone Arrow. Those recipes have their own unlocks and other ingredient costs; simply owning fragments does not unlock every recipe.
  • A loose Ruin Fragment does not provide the placed light or fall warning of a crafted Rainbow Stone. Use the finished item when that is what you need.
  • Ruin Fragments and Sanctuary Stones are different materials. The larger, rarer stone is not an interchangeable ingredient for the same recipes.
  • Carry up to 999, with another 999 in storage. Selling gives ten runes each, so keeping a supply for crafting is usually more useful than selling a few.
