Scouring Black Flame

The burn lasts 2 seconds and removes 0.1% of the target’s current maximum HP plus 1 HP per tick, at intervals of about 0.1 seconds. This HP loss is separate from the impact’s damage and defenses. Applying the same burn again refreshes its duration without restarting its tick clock. The number of applications depends on actual hits; maximum-HP restriction is a separate effect.

Health Points

The burn lasts 2 seconds and removes 0.1% of the target's current maximum HP plus 1 HP on each native tick. This is direct HP loss, separate from the impact's defense and elemental damage calculation. Applying the same native burn again refreshes its lifetime while preserving its existing tick clock. Different native burn identities remain separate. The engine uses the supplied actual update deltas, checks for a due tick before advancing its clock and combines burns due on the same update before integer truncation. Supply confirmed effect applications, the affected target, its maximum HP and its HP-damage suppression state. This does not infer how many projectiles or weapon hits connect. Maximum-HP restriction is a separate effect.

In-game description

A black flame incantation of the Godskin Apostles.

Sweeps a wide area before the caster with black flame.

Charging enhances range.

The black flame could once slay gods. But when Maliketh sealed Destined Death, the true power of the black flame was lost.

Where to find

Dominula, Windmill Village

Altus Plateau

Starting Site of Grace: Windmill Village

Reach Altus Plateau with the Dectus Medallion halves from Fort Haight and Fort Faroth, or defeat Magma Wyrm Makar at the top of Ruin-Strewn Precipice.
From Altus Highway Junction, follow the road north past the map monument to Forest-Spanning Greatbridge. The waygate beside that grace brings you to the northern end of the broken bridge.
Leave the northern bridge end and follow the road east across northern Altus, toward the windmills. At the village junction, take the uphill path through the wooden entrance arch and activate Windmill Village grace.
From Windmill Village grace, climb the main village path past the dancing celebrants. Stay on the rising path toward the highest windmill rather than the separate pastures along the northern road.
Defeat the Godskin Apostle at the top. This encounter awards Godskin Peeler and Scouring Black Flame together; it does not require finishing Millicent's quest or defeating Radahn.

Notes

Requires 28 Faith, one memory slot and 21 FP. Charging costs the same FP but uses more stamina and commits you to a longer cast.
Sweeps black fire upward and outward in front of you. Charging extends its reach and increases the direct Fire attack power from 255% to 299% of Incantation Scaling.
Its direct hit deals 9.25 stance damage normally or about 13.64 when charged. Godfrey Icon improves the charged spell's direct damage.
The upward sweep can catch taller or airborne targets, but can pass over small enemies. Unlocking the camera and aiming lower can help when the flame repeatedly misses near the ground.
Hits apply a brief health drain based partly on the target's maximum HP. Reapplication refreshes that burn rather than adding a new independent full burn on every contact.
Godslayer's Seal adds 10% to the direct spell damage while held, or 21% with two held copies. This bonus is separate from the fixed percentage component of the drain.
The wider sweep is useful against a group or broad target, while Black Flame offers a simpler ranged fireball. A wider animation does not guarantee several hits on one small enemy.
The drain is reduced against some targets, including bosses in the Realm of Shadow. Do not count on the same percentage against every boss.
The Dominula Godskin Apostle awards this incantation and Godskin Peeler together. The apostles in Divine Tower of Caelid and Spiritcaller Cave have different rewards.
