In-game description

A delicate goldwork ring. Can be used as a finger whistle.

Sound the whistle to summon and ride Torrent, the spectral steed.

(Dismounts steed when used while on horseback.)

Upon his death, the spectral steed can be summoned again, but doing so drains the Flask of Crimson Tears.

Starting Site of Grace: Gatefront

  1. Leave the Stranded Graveyard and follow the road north past the Church of Elleh to Gatefront Ruins.
  2. Activate and rest at Gatefront grace beside Stormgate. Speak to Melina when she appears and accept her accord.
  3. She gives you the Spectral Steed Whistle. Put it in a pouch or quick-item slot and use it outdoors to call Torrent.

  • Use it to mount Torrent in an area that allows riding, and use it again to dismount. It costs no FP and is not consumed.
  • Keep it in your pouch or quick items so you can call Torrent without opening the full inventory.
  • Riding is unavailable in many interiors and during ordinary multiplayer. A disabled whistle does not mean Torrent or the item has been permanently lost.
  • If Torrent dies, calling him again prompts you to spend one Crimson flask charge to revive him. Ordinary mounting while he is alive does not spend a charge.
  • Rowa, Sweet and Frozen Raisins restore Torrent's HP. They do not heal your own health bar.
  • Torrent's double jump does not reset fall height or turn a lethal drop into a safe landing. Use the intended ledges or a spiritspring for large descents.
