Fire Monk incantations

Superior incantation of the Fire Monks.

Creates a stream of fire to burn the area before the caster.

This incantation can be cast while in motion. Hold to maintain the effect.

The Giants' Flame is the flame of ruin, capable of burning the Erdtree. And so, following the War against the Giants, its ruinous blaze was sealed, and guardians were appointed to watch over it.

Before you go

• Have 5,500 runes.
• Give Fire Monks' Prayerbook to the teacher you will buy from.

1. Reach Scenic Isle grace in southern Liurnia's lake, near the telescope on the raised island.
2. Ride south-southwest across the shallow water until you reach dry ground. Look for the fenced camp decorated with red cloth.
3. Approach carefully and draw the Fire Monks and their followers away from the central pickup. Their flames can make it difficult to stop and loot while several are attacking.
4. Search the body in the middle of the camp for Fire Monks' Prayerbook.
5. The Fire Spur Me gesture is another pickup in this camp, beside the burning bowls. Check that you collected the book as well.
6. Return to Liurnia's eastern shore. From the Artist's Shack, follow the road north and take the uphill branch to Church of Vows.
7. Speak to Miriel, the large turtle inside the ruined church, and give him Fire Monks' Prayerbook. Choose his purchase menu and buy Surge, O Flame! for 5,500 runes.
8. Brother Corhyn can also receive the book at his current quest location. Handing it to one teacher does not open the same stock at the other, and the spell must still be purchased.

Notes

• Requires 9 Faith and one memory slot. Starting the stream costs 1 FP, then holding the input keeps spending FP in 1-point increments and draining stamina.
• The 1 FP listed for the opening is not the cost of maintaining an entire stream. Release the input when you need to stop spending FP or prepare to dodge.
• You can walk while maintaining it and adjust the stream toward nearby targets. Its short reach and low damage per contact make it better for close pressure than a distant target.
• Holding maintains the stream rather than charging a larger blast. Godfrey Icon does not improve it.
• Each damage contact starts at 51% of incantation scaling before defenses and deals 1 stance damage to enemies. Many little contacts do not bypass the enemy's defenses.
• Costs 5,500 runes after giving Fire Monks' Prayerbook to Miriel or Brother Corhyn. The book itself is in southern Liurnia, so reaching the Mountaintops is unnecessary.
• Giant's Seal increases this spell's damage by 20% while held in an active hand. Two active copies give 44% together. You can cast with a different seal while holding Giant's Seal in the other hand.
• Fire Scorpion Charm, Flame-Shrouding Cracked Tear and Flame, Grant Me Strength can improve its Fire damage. The damage still depends on your casting seal and attributes; having the required Faith only lets you cast it.
• Fire hits can clear an enemy's active Frostbite. That lets you build Frostbite again, but also removes its damage-taken penalty until the next proc.
