LocationUpper ledge of Uhl Palace Ruins

Ainsel River

Starting Site of Grace: Ainsel River Main

Before you go

  • Reach Ainsel River Main through Renna's Rise or the coffin from Deeproot Depths.
  1. Start at Caria Manor in northwestern Liurnia. Defeat Royal Knight Loretta and enter Three Sisters behind the manor. Visit Ranni at the top of Ranni's Rise and agree to serve her. Speak to the spirits downstairs, then return to Ranni to finish the conversation.
  2. Defeat Starscourge Radahn at Redmane Castle. Return to southern Mistwood and find the new crater near Fort Haight, marked by floating rocks. Descend using its ledges and enter Nokron, Eternal City.
  3. Work across Nokron's rooftops to the streets and continue to Mimic Tear. Defeat it and cross the long bridge beyond its arena. Leave the bridge on the left into the woods, then follow the cliff to Ancestral Woods grace.
  4. Jump from the cliff beside that grace onto the roof below. Follow the rooftops and narrow building ledges into Night's Sacred Ground. Continue across the broken stone arch into the church, descend inside, and leave onto the lower street. Follow that street to the enormous seated figure and open the chest underneath it for Fingerslayer Blade.
  5. Return the blade to Ranni at her tower. Before doing this, finish any remaining Seluvis rewards you want. Rest after speaking to Ranni, then visit Renna's Rise, the northern tower in Three Sisters. Climb it and use the sending gate to Ainsel River Main.
  6. Collect Miniature Ranni from the coffin near where you arrive. Rest at Ainsel River Main and select Talk to miniature Ranni repeatedly until she answers. Finish her dialogue.
  7. From Ainsel River Main, follow the water through the Uhl Palace Ruins, using the ruins for cover against the hanging creature's projectiles. Continue into the ant tunnel.
  8. At the tunnel fork, take the left branch guarded by the hard-headed Giant Ant instead of the route onward to Nokstella. Follow the cliffside passage overlooking the lower Uhl ruins.
  9. Keep along the right-hand wall and cross onto the stone structure above the Malformed Star. Open the chest for Wing of Astel. The lower entrance through Ainsel River Well does not reach this upper chest.

Notes

  • Requires 7 Strength, 17 Dexterity and 20 Intelligence, and weighs 2.5. Dexterity improves Physical damage, Intelligence improves Magic damage, and Strength contributes less.
  • Standing heavy attacks release a short Magic wave without spending FP. Fully charged heavies release two waves as well as the blade attacks.
  • The waves use the weapon's Magic attack power, so Intelligence and reinforcement improve them. Dexterity's Physical contribution to the blade does not improve the waves in the same way.
  • Blade and wave can hit the same enemy at close range. At a distance, the free wave is useful pressure, but you lose the blade's damage and part of the stance damage.
  • Nebula costs 20 FP and leaves a cluster of delayed Magic explosions. These improve through Intelligence and upgrades, independently of the ordinary Physical blade damage.
  • Nebula's explosions each deal 13 stance damage and can hit a target more than once when several connect. Enemy size, spacing and movement determine the result; it is not a guaranteed full-cloud hit on every cast.
  • This version differs from Bastard's Stars, whose Nebula includes a sweeping flail contact and a shared limit on the explosions hitting one enemy. Do not treat their identical skill names as identical attacks.
  • Shard of Alexander and Spellblade armor improve Nebula, but do not improve the ordinary heavy-attack waves. Godfrey Icon does not improve Nebula because that skill cannot be charged.
  • Deals 20% extra damage against eligible gravity enemies. It has no innate Frostbite or Blood Loss buildup.
  • Uses Somber Smithing Stones to +10. Its skill and affinity cannot be changed, and grease or weapon enchantments cannot be applied.
  • The upper Ainsel route can be reached through Renna's Rise during Ranni's quest or the coffin from Deeproot Depths. Defeating Astel is unnecessary for the chest.
