LocationHighroad Cave

Limgrave

Starting Site of Grace: Highroad Cave

  1. Reach Saintsbridge in northern Limgrave. Use the spiritspring beside the bridge to descend into the ravine, then follow the river north toward the Giant Land Octopuses.
  2. Find the cave opening in the western cliff near the river's northern end. Enter Highroad Cave and activate the grace.
  3. Follow the tunnel to the first shaft and descend by its stone ledges. Continue through the wolf chambers, then work down the next shaft by the visible ledges rather than dropping straight to the bottom.
  4. Past the wolves, the tunnel opens into a tall chamber with waterfalls and bats. Follow the ledge left and descend to the smaller waterfall, dealing with the bats on the ledges.
  5. Look below the waterfall for the broken stone pillar leading toward the broad central platform. Drop onto the nearby rock and cross the pillar carefully; the deeper water around the route is a fatal fall.
  6. Defeat the bats on the central platform and loot the corpse for Shamshir. The side cave above holds other supplies, and the Guardian Golem farther below is unnecessary for this weapon.

Notes

  • With Standard affinity, physical damage scales most strongly with Dexterity, with weaker Strength scaling.
  • Upgrade it with Smithing Stones. Its maximum upgrade is +25.
  • Can use compatible Ashes of War. Your choice of skill and the whetblades you've found determine which affinities you can apply.
  • Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs.
  • Requires 7 Strength and 13 Dexterity and weighs 3.5. It offers a longer blade than Scimitar while keeping the same low requirements.
  • Its flowing one-handed and two-handed light attacks step farther forward than the ordinary curved-sword pattern. That forward movement is useful for keeping contact with a retreating enemy.
  • Starts with Spinning Slash: 6 FP for the opening spin and another 12 FP for its follow-up. The skill can be replaced without changing its ordinary light-attack pattern.
  • There is no innate Blood Loss or elemental damage. Dexterity is its stronger Standard attribute, while another affinity can change both damage and scaling.
  • Millicent's Waterfowl Dance is not part of the player's Shamshir. Enemies carrying this blade also do not provide a repeatable Shamshir farm; collect the fixed cave pickup.
