About this spirit
Costs 100 FP and summons a Banished Knight wielding two swords. His role is sustained close-range pressure rather than guarding behind a shield.
His combinations can keep smaller enemies staggered when several hits connect. Larger enemies that withstand the attacks can catch him during the rest of the combo.
He can draw attention while you recover or attack another side, but his aggression does not guarantee the enemy stays focused on him throughout a fight.

In-game description
Ashen remains in which spirits yet dwell.
Use to summon the spirit of Oleg, the Banished Knight.
One of the two knights known as the Wings of the Storm. After his banishment, he attracted the notice of the Grace-Given Lord and later, having slain a hundred traitors as the Lord's hand, Oleg earned the hero's honor of Erdtree Burial.
Where to find
Fringefolk Hero's Grave boss
Limgrave
Starting Site of Grace: Stranded Graveyard
Before you go
- Return to Stranded Graveyard, the starting cave below The First Step. Spend two Stonesword Keys at the imp seal beside the grace.
- Descend and cross the poison pool. Wait at the first chariot slope until you can move behind the machine.
- Follow the slope downward in short sections, hiding in the wall alcoves as the chariot returns. Clear the soldiers in an alcove before using it as shelter.
- Continue around the bend and across the narrow bridge section. At the later split, take the descending route; the upward dead end leads toward Dragon Communion Seal.
- Follow the lower slope to the large boss doors and enter when you have enough healing left.
- Defeat the Ulcerated Tree Spirit to receive Oleg. The hidden side rooms, Grafted Scions and chariot-destruction puzzle are optional.
Notes
- Costs 100 FP and summons a Banished Knight wielding two swords. His role is sustained close-range pressure rather than guarding behind a shield.
- His combinations can keep smaller enemies staggered when several hits connect. Larger enemies that withstand the attacks can catch him during the rest of the combo.
- He can draw attention while you recover or attack another side, but his aggression does not guarantee the enemy stays focused on him throughout a fight.
- Upgrade him with Ghost Glovewort through Roderika, up to +10.
- He is not one of the six ashes counted for the legendary-remains achievement. A named spirit using Ghost Glovewort does not automatically count toward that achievement.
- The Ulcerated Tree Spirit in Fringefolk Hero's Grave awards him. The Dragon Communion Seal detour and the chariot-destruction puzzle are optional for this reward.
- He uses storm-assisted sword attacks as well as ordinary swings. The storm animations do not turn him into a long-range caster or a shield defender.
- Oleg and Engvall are separate Banished Knight summons with different weapons. Obtaining one does not upgrade or replace the other.
- His two swords and aggressive combinations can occupy an enemy, but you should wait for the enemy to commit before assuming it is safe to drink a flask.
- Upgrade through Roderika to +10 using Ghost Glovewort and a Great Ghost Glovewort for the final level. The summoning cost stays the same.
- Needs Spirit Calling Bell, enough available FP and the rebirth-monument icon that permits spirit summoning. The ash remains reusable, but a defeated summon cannot simply be replaced during the same encounter.
