About this spirit

Summons one nomad for 61 FP, with no HP payment. Use the Spirit Calling Bell in an area with an active rebirth monument; the small monument icon shows when summoning is available.

The nomad slowly moves about and casts the uncharged Flame of Frenzy. Its spread deals Fire damage and can apply Madness to targets vulnerable to it.

Most enemies and bosses are immune to Madness. Against them, the summon still deals Fire damage, but will not trigger the player-like Madness burst or FP loss.

In-game description

Ashen remains in which spirits yet dwell.

Use to summon the spirit of a nomad.

A member of a tribe that was entombed in the earth so as to bury the maddening disease that followed them. Able to emit the terrible flame of frenzy from his eyes, but has low HP and is frail, unable to take much in the way of punishment.

Where to find

Broken spiral stairs in the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds

Leyndell

Starting Site of Grace: Underground Roadside

  1. In Leyndell, Royal Capital, start at Avenue Balcony. Descend the northwestern stairs and go through the door. Follow the railing west, then drop left onto the lower rooftops.
  2. Drop off the right side of the roof, turn back north and find the well behind the broken wall. Climb its ladder, open the gate in the lower passage and take the next ladder down.
  3. Follow the damp corridor northeast into the rat-filled sewer entrance. Go through the southeastern doorway and descend the ladder into the large Omen hallway.
  4. Head northeast along the hallway and enter the first room on the left, opposite the summoning statue. Activate Underground Roadside grace.
  5. Leave Underground Roadside and go northeast along the Omen hallway to the open floor grate. Drop into it, follow the rat tunnel northwest and take the side pipe on the right rather than the flower-filled route to Dung Eater's cell.
  6. Follow the slug-filled pipe. Drop through its first floor opening into the dark room, leave through the door on the left and follow the next tunnel. At the slug-blocked bend, go left and drop through the next opening beside the corpse with Rainbow Stone Arrows.
  7. In the lower chamber, watch for the ambusher near your landing and the Revenant farther inside. Use the tunnel in the western corner, continue through the open metal gate and follow the bends past the slugs to the square room with an Omen and ladder.
  8. Climb the ladder and turn right to pull the lever, opening a shortcut back to Underground Roadside. Watch for two more Omen by the statue. Take the nearby doorway into the broken spiral-stair chamber.
  9. In the broken spiral-stair chamber, turn left and drop to the lower curved staircase rather than falling to the bottom. Follow the short stairs down and enter the passage on the right.
  10. At the later fork, take the downward ladder beside the ledge. A large Miranda flower occupies the lower room, with Basilisks nearby; avoid standing in their Death Blight clouds.
  11. At the foot of the ladder, take the passage on the left and follow its short corridor to the corpse hanging over the stair ledge. Loot Nomad Ashes. You do not need to continue to the sewer Mohg or the Three Fingers for this pickup.

Notes

  • Summons one nomad for 61 FP, with no HP payment. Use the Spirit Calling Bell in an area with an active rebirth monument; the small monument icon shows when summoning is available.
  • The nomad slowly moves about and casts the uncharged Flame of Frenzy. Its spread deals Fire damage and can apply Madness to targets vulnerable to it.
  • Most enemies and bosses are immune to Madness. Against them, the summon still deals Fire damage, but will not trigger the player-like Madness burst or FP loss.
  • He is fragile and slow to evade attacks. Giving him room to cast helps more than expecting him to hold a boss's attention through a long melee exchange.
  • Frenzyflame Stones can heal this frenzy-aligned summon. They are not a harmless healing option for every nearby character: standing near one without having inherited the Frenzied Flame builds Madness on you.
  • Upgrade with Grave Glovewort to +10, using Great Grave Glovewort for the last level. This summon uses the ordinary Grave materials, not Ghost Glovewort.
  • The ashes are a fixed corpse pickup along the broken-stair route in the sewers. You do not need to inherit the Frenzied Flame to collect or summon the nomad.
