About this Ash of War
Holding the horizontal stance is free. Each fired arrow costs 2 FP and one arrow, so ten shots spend 20 FP and ten arrows before cost-reducing equipment.
Fires rapidly, with each shot dealing 80% of an ordinary arrow's attack power and 75% of its status buildup. The attraction is speed and repeated pressure rather than every shot being a full-strength ordinary hit.
Status arrows can build an ailment quickly if enough shots connect. Ordinary arrows do not gain bleed, poison or sleep from the skill, and an immune enemy will not become susceptible through sheer firing speed.

Where to find
Scarab in the Seethewater ravine
Mt. Gelmir
Starting Site of Grace: Seethewater River
- From Erdtree-Gazing Hill in Altus, ride up toward Wyndham Ruins and take the ravine west of the ruins to Seethewater River.
- Follow the narrow channel north. Watch the ground for the steam vents that erupt along this route.
- Find and kill the scarab in the ravine to receive Barrage. You do not need to continue to Fort Laiedd or Volcano Manor.
Notes
- Holding the horizontal stance is free. Each fired arrow costs 2 FP and one arrow, so ten shots spend 20 FP and ten arrows before cost-reducing equipment.
- Fires rapidly, with each shot dealing 80% of an ordinary arrow's attack power and 75% of its status buildup. The attraction is speed and repeated pressure rather than every shot being a full-strength ordinary hit.
- Status arrows can build an ailment quickly if enough shots connect. Ordinary arrows do not gain bleed, poison or sleep from the skill, and an immune enemy will not become susceptible through sheer firing speed.
- The stance slows movement and stamina recovery. Stop firing with enough stamina left to dodge; a long volley is unsafe when the enemy is already within melee range.
- It does not remove distance falloff or make arrows pass through cover. A clear firing lane matters even when the interval between shots is short.
- The separate Ash can be installed on compatible light bows such as Composite Bow. Black Bow has its own fixed Barrage, and finding a weapon with the skill does not award an extra transferable Ash.
- Damage uses the equipped bow and selected ammunition, including the bow's reinforcement and actual attribute scaling. The skill does not supply free arrows or give every bow new Intelligence, Faith or Arcane scaling.
- Shard of Alexander improves the damaging skill shots, while holding the ready stance does not qualify for Godfrey Icon. An arrow-damage bonus increases damage rather than directly increasing ailment buildup.
- This Ash uses the Standard affinity. Its equipment type does not receive the usual melee affinity choices.
- Compatible weapon classes: Light Bow. A weapon with a fixed skill cannot use this Ash of War.
