Starting Site of Grace: Bestial Sanctum
Before you go
- Give Gurranq a total of seven Deathroots and keep him alive.
- To reach Gurranq early, find the waygate in the bushes behind the Third Church of Marika in eastern Limgrave. Use it to travel to Bestial Sanctum in Dragonbarrow. Go inside the large doors behind your arrival point and activate the grace.
- Speak to Gurranq at the far end of the hall and give him Deathroot. These come from Tibia Mariners and the Deathroot chests at the ends of certain catacombs and hero's graves.
- After the fourth Deathroot, Gurranq becomes hostile when the area reloads. Fight him until he stops and asks you to cease, then stop attacking. Rest and speak to him again to continue giving Deathroot.
- Hand over your seventh Deathroot to receive Beastclaw Greathammer. Killing Gurranq prevents you from finishing these rewards.
Notes
- Requires 20 Strength, 10 Dexterity and 18 Faith, and weighs 9. Ordinary attacks combine Physical and Holy damage. Strength provides the strongest Physical scaling, Dexterity is a close secondary contribution, and Faith improves Holy damage.
- Regal Beastclaw costs 20 FP. The hammer slam sends five claw-shaped shockwaves forward along the ground.
- The hammer contact uses the weapon's Physical and Holy attack power. The traveling claws deal Physical damage, including a separate component improved through upgrades and the weapon's Strength, Dexterity and Faith scaling.
- The five claws spread to cover several enemies, but one target does not take five separate full wave hits. The close hammer contact and one wave can connect together.
- The slam deals 7 stance damage and the wave adds 20. Staying in hammer range can therefore give 27 stance damage, rather than the wave's 20 on its own.
- Shard of Alexander improves the skill. Godfrey Icon does not because it cannot be charged. Clawmark Seal's bestial-incantation bonus does not apply to this weapon skill.
- Physical damage bonuses improve the traveling claws; Holy bonuses apply to the hammer's Holy contact damage rather than turning the claws into Holy attacks.
- The waves travel along the ground, so ledges and uneven terrain can interfere with them. Give them a clear route rather than expecting them to fly up to an enemy on a raised platform.
- Uses Somber Smithing Stones to +10. Its skill and affinity are fixed, and grease or weapon enchantments cannot be applied.
- Gurranq gives this as the seventh Deathroot reward. Any seven of the nine Deathroots count; no particular seventh dungeon is required.
- After the fourth Deathroot, stop attacking when the hostile Gurranq calms down and asks you to stop. Killing him ends the remaining Deathroot rewards. Defeating Maliketh separately does not by itself remove Gurranq from Bestial Sanctum.
