In-game description
One of the Carian royal family's glintstone swords.
A smaller piercing sword with a slender blade.
Formerly used by the Carian knights of old before the full refinement of their sorcerous combat techniques, this armament functions as a catalyst for glintstone sorcery when executing strong attacks.
Skill
Skill that lets piercing armaments overcome enemy shields. Build power, then lunge forward for a strong thrust that pierces an enemy's guard.
Where to find
Scadu Altus
Starting Site of Grace: Highroad Cross
Before you go
- To enter the Realm of Shadow, defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, then touch the withered arm in Mohg's arena at Mohgwyn Palace.
- Reach Scadu Altus on the northern side of Castle Ensis.
- Reach Highroad Cross on the Scadu Altus side of Castle Ensis. The direct route is through Rellana's arena and the northern castle exit.
- Ride west from the grace into the shallow water below the plateau. Follow the river south toward the waterfall above Castle Ensis, keeping to its western bank.
- At the waterfall, look down for the separate castle roof beside the water. Drop onto the roof from the bank; do not jump down the waterfall to the distant lower ground.
- Follow the roof south to its chest and open it for Carian Sorcery Sword. This chest is approached from above, rather than through the main castle rooms below.
Notes
- Physical damage scales most strongly with Intelligence, with weaker Dexterity and Strength scaling.
- Magic damage scales most strongly with Intelligence.
- Its critical rating is 110. This improves critical attacks such as backstabs and ripostes; it does not give every ordinary attack the same bonus.
- Upgrade it with Smithing Stones. Its maximum upgrade is +25.
- Use its strong-attack input to cast your selected sorcery. Ordinary attacks still use the sword, so it can handle both jobs without swapping to a staff.
- Requires 10 Strength, 19 Dexterity and 16 Intelligence and weighs 2.5. Intelligence improves its current Physical and Magic damage as well as its sorcery casting; it is not limited to the blade's Magic portion.
- Heavy, charged-heavy, running-heavy and jumping-heavy inputs are replaced by sorcery casting. Memorize the spell at a grace, meet its requirements and keep enough FP, just as with a staff.
- When held in the left hand, the skill input casts the selected sorcery and takes priority over the right-hand weapon's skill. Plan the hand arrangement if you want quick access to a different weapon skill.
- A guard counter uses the light- and heavy-attack inputs together instead of only the usual heavy input. Pressing heavy alone attempts a cast.
- It can cast Physical-damage sorceries as well as Magic-damage sorceries. Intelligence supports the current version's spell damage, so the old limitation that treated Physical sorceries as a Strength and Dexterity setup does not apply.
- It cannot cast incantations. Its casting convenience also does not make it universally stronger than dedicated staffs at every Intelligence level.
- Impaling Thrust costs 9 FP and is fixed. Its affinity cannot be changed, and grease or weapon enchantments cannot be applied.
- The sword does not provide the separate Carian Glintstone Staff bonus to sword sorceries. A compatible staff held in the other hand can supply its own passive spell-family bonus.
