Where to find

War-Dead Catacombs lower hall

Caelid

Starting Site of Grace: War-Dead Catacombs

Before you go

  • Defeat Starscourge Radahn to explore his battlefield.
  1. Defeat Starscourge Radahn at Redmane Castle's festival. From his battlefield grace, ride north along the beach toward the cliff at the far northern end of the arena.
  2. Find the doorway cut into the cliff, enter War-Dead Catacombs and activate the grace. Descend the entrance stairs to the large hall of spectral soldiers fighting one another.
  3. Avoid joining the fight and use the edge of the upper hall to reach the lower, Scarlet Rot-covered floor. The chest is beneath the main fighting area, not behind the dungeon boss fog.
  4. Cross to the chest and open it for Collapsing Stars. Keep healing and a Scarlet Rot cure ready, then return to the upper floor rather than standing in the rot while sorting your inventory.

Notes

  • Requires 36 Intelligence, one memory slot and a glintstone staff. It costs 18 FP, with no extra FP payment for charging.
  • Releases nine tracking gravity projectiles. Each hit deals Magic damage and can pull an enemy toward you; this is several small hits rather than one large Gravity Well projectile.
  • Charging increases the damage and stance damage of the projectiles. Godfrey Icon improves a fully charged cast, but charging does not turn each projectile into an unavoidable hit.
  • The repeated pulls can keep lighter enemies under pressure or draw them into a close-range attack. Heavy enemies can resist the displacement, and moving targets or obstacles can waste part of the volley.
  • Meteorite Staff gives its 30% gravity-sorcery bonus while held. Casting with another staff while holding it still works; two active copies provide a combined 69% bonus.
  • Damage uses the casting staff's Sorcery Scaling, usually supplied by Intelligence. The purple gravity effect does not create Strength scaling or Physical damage.
  • Graven talismans and Magic damage bonuses work on the spell. Weapon-skill bonuses from Shard of Alexander or Spellblade armor do not.
  • Radahn must be defeated to reach the battlefield dungeon, but the Putrid Tree Spirit inside War-Dead Catacombs does not need to be defeated. The spell is in the lower chest, not the boss reward.
