Skill
Skill that lets piercing armaments overcome enemy shields. Build power, then lunge forward for a strong thrust that pierces an enemy's guard.Ash of War: Impaling Thrust
Where to find
Caelid
Starting Site of Grace: Sellia Hideaway
- From Church of the Plague in eastern Caelid, ride northeast into the graveyard. Strike the cliff behind the tall gravestone guarded by the battlemage to reveal Sellia Hideaway, then enter and activate its grace.
- Follow the miners' tunnel to the apparent dead end and strike the false wall. Break through the next false wall farther along to reach the first large crystal cavern.
- Cross the long crystal over the first pit and follow the upper ledges past the miners' camp toward the northeast tunnel. Leave the deep drop toward Lusat's blue seal and the Royal Revenant alone; those are separate lower branches.
- Enter the second large crystal chamber and follow the descending slope northwest. Look on the right for the ledge with the corpse holding Preserving Boluses.
- Strike the wall behind that corpse and enter the hidden room. Open the chest for Crystal Spear. Sellian Sealbreaker, Sellen's quest and the Putrid Crystalian boss fight are not required.
Notes
- Requires 10 Strength, 16 Dexterity and 16 Intelligence, and weighs 5.5. Dexterity gives its physical damage stronger scaling than Strength; Intelligence improves the smaller Magic portion.
- The fixed Impaling Thrust skill costs nine FP. It provides a long, guard-piercing lunge, while ordinary spear thrusts give reach and physical pierce damage.
- Physical thrust damage can benefit from counterattacks against an enemy attacking you. Spear Talisman strengthens that physical counter damage, rather than multiplying the spear's Magic portion as well.
- Upgrade it with Somber Smithing Stones to +10. Its skill and affinity cannot be replaced, and grease or a weapon enchantment cannot be applied.
- Has a normal critical rating of 100 and no native ailment. Rotten Crystal Spear is a separate enemy drop with Scarlet Rot; this ordinary version does not inflict rot or Frostbite.
- The crystal weapon does not boost Crystalian sorceries when held. Its hidden chest is separate from Lusat's sealed chamber and the dungeon boss reward.
