In-game description
Scepter in the shape of a serpent devouring the world. This weapon will one day become the very symbol of the Lord of Blasphemy.
One of the legendary armaments.
A vision of the future briefly seen by Rykard in his final moments before being devoured by the great serpent.
Skill
Charge the scepter with magic and strike it against the ground to steal the HP of all nearby enemies.
Where to find
Limgrave
Starting Site of Grace: Warmaster's Shack
Before you go
- Bernahl must still be at the shack.
- This route kills Bernahl and ends his later joint quest.
- From Stormhill Shack in northern Limgrave, follow the road east into the woods to Warmaster's Shack. Visit during daylight to find Knight Bernahl inside; the nighttime Bell Bearing Hunter is a different enemy.
- Killing Bernahl here gives his weapon and armor early, but prevents his later Manor assignment, Raging Wolf outfit and Gelmir's Fury reward. Keep him alive and use the later invasion if you want those rewards.
- If you choose the early kill, defeat Bernahl and collect Devourer's Scepter, Beast Champion Helm, Gauntlets, Greaves and Beast Champion Armor (Altered), along with his bell bearing. The chest drops without its cape.
Crumbling Farum Azula
Starting Site of Grace: Beside the Great Bridge
Before you go
- Defeat Rykard and reach Crumbling Farum Azula.
- Keep Bernahl alive through Volcano Manor. Finish his joint Leyndell assignment and collect Gelmir's Fury first if you want those rewards, then defeat Rykard. Return to Bernahl at the manor and finish his remaining dialogue.
- Later, reach Beside the Great Bridge grace in Crumbling Farum Azula. Climb the stairs onto the broad bridge and turn away from the uphill route toward the Draconic Tree Sentinel and Maliketh.
- Go to the building at the bridge's opposite end. Descend through the Beastmen rooms and leave onto the outside balcony. Use the ladder there to reach the lower walkway.
- Follow the walkway toward the separate tower. Recusant Bernahl invades on this approach; make room to fight rather than backing blindly toward a ledge.
- Defeat him for Devourer's Scepter, Blasphemous Claw and his armor, including the altered chest. His joint Leyndell assignment is not required for this invasion, and defeating Maliketh does not prevent it on the current version.
Notes
- Requires 24 Strength, 20 Dexterity and 25 Faith, and weighs 11.5. Strength and Dexterity contribute equally to its physical scaling, while Faith improves the Fire portion. It has no Intelligence scaling despite the skill description mentioning magic.
- Its fixed Devourer of Worlds skill costs 35 FP. It plants the scepter into the ground and releases a circular life-stealing attack around you, rather than firing a projectile at a distant target.
- The skill's wave deals Fire damage based on the weapon's Fire attack power. Faith and reinforcement improve that part; raising Strength or Dexterity for ordinary physical attacks does not directly improve the Fire wave.
- Each enemy caught by the life-stealing hit restores 15% of your maximum HP. A group can restore more than a single target, and the enemy does not need to die. The amount is based on your maximum HP rather than the damage dealt to that enemy.
- Ordinary weapon hits do not have this life steal. With insufficient FP or unmet requirements, the full wave and healing do not occur, so striking the ground alone is not a free healing substitute.
- The skill cannot be charged or continued by holding the input. Shard of Alexander improves its damage; Godfrey Icon does not turn it into a charged skill or increase healing.
- As a Great Hammer, its normal attacks deal Strike damage. It has a critical rating of 100 and no innate blood loss, poison or other status buildup.
- Upgrade it with Somber Smithing Stones to +10. It cannot use a replacement Ash of War, grease or weapon enchantments.
- One of the legendary armaments. The later invasion preserves Bernahl's earlier quest opportunities, while killing him at Warmaster's Shack ends them. The current invasion can still occur after Maliketh, provided Bernahl was kept alive.
