1. Collect the Academy Glintstone Key from the corpse behind the sleeping dragon on the island north of Temple Quarter, west of Raya Lucaria. You can grab it without defeating the dragon.
2. At South Raya Lucaria Gate, examine the blue seal to reach Main Academy Gate. Take the nearby lift up, climb past the two spellcasters and enter the church.
3. Watch for the marionettes dropping inside, then use the side doorway to activate Church of the Cuckoo grace. Continue out into the graveyard.
4. Follow the graveyard path down across the wooden bridge, then uphill on the far side. The crawling enemies try to grab you and drain FP. Pass through the torch-lit doorway at the far end to reach the waterwheel.
5. Step onto an ascending platform and ride upward. Jump off at the upper landing before the wheel carries you over, then climb the stairs into Schoolhouse Classroom and activate its grace.
6. Leave the grace room up the short stairs into the corridor, watch for the patrolling enemy and turn left into the room at the end. Open the chest on the right for the cookbook.
7. The same room contains Conspectus Scroll. The hidden wall and exterior ledge are optional; you do not need them, the rooftop route or either academy boss for this chest.
8. Buy the Crafting Kit from Kalé at Church of Elleh for 300 runes if Item Crafting is still unavailable. Finding a cookbook alone does not open the crafting menu.
9. Collect 1 Root Resin, 1 Crystal Bud and 1 String, then open Item Crafting outside combat and select Drawstring Magic Grease. One batch makes 1.

Notes

• Quickly adds 110 Magic attack power for about 10 seconds. The ordinary Magic Grease adds 85 for 60 seconds.
• The added Magic amount does not scale with Intelligence. Scholar's Armament uses a different scaling rule, and cannot be layered over this grease as a second coating.
• The academy cookbook is a fixed chest pickup. You do not need to defeat Rennala to learn the recipe after reaching its room.
• Use a weapon that allows grease. Standard, Heavy, Keen and Quality usually permit it; elemental and status affinities usually prevent it. Some unique weapons have their own rules.
• This uses the weapon-buff slot. Another grease, weapon enchantment or coating skill replaces it instead of adding a second coating. Switching away from the weapon can remove it.
• Apply it to the weapon you intend to fight with. It does not coat every equipped armament or add its effect to unrelated spells.
• Each application consumes one grease and costs no FP. Carry up to 30, with another 600 in storage.
• Each craft makes one and uses 1 Root Resin, 1 Crystal Bud and 1 String. The cookbook stays in your inventory.
