1. Collect the Academy Glintstone Key from the corpse behind the sleeping dragon on the island north of Temple Quarter, west of Raya Lucaria. You can grab it without defeating the dragon.
2. At South Raya Lucaria Gate, examine the blue seal to reach Main Academy Gate. Take the nearby lift up, climb past the two spellcasters and enter the church.
3. Watch for the marionettes dropping inside, then use the side doorway to activate Church of the Cuckoo grace. Continue out into the graveyard.
4. Follow the graveyard path down across the wooden bridge, then uphill on the far side. The crawling enemies try to grab you and drain FP. Pass through the torch-lit doorway at the far end to reach the waterwheel.
5. Step onto an ascending platform and ride upward. Jump off at the upper landing before the wheel carries you over, then climb the stairs into Schoolhouse Classroom and activate its grace.
6. Leave the grace room up the short stairs into the corridor, watch for the patrolling enemy and turn left into the room at the end. Open the chest on the right for the cookbook.
7. The same room contains Conspectus Scroll. The hidden wall and exterior ledge are optional; you do not need them, the rooftop route or either academy boss for this chest.
8. Buy the Crafting Kit from Kalé at Church of Elleh for 300 runes if Item Crafting is unavailable. With the book and kit owned, open Item Crafting outside combat.
9. Collect 1 Root Resin and 1 Crystal Bud, then open Item Crafting outside combat and select Magic Grease. One batch makes 1.

Notes

• Adds 85 Magic attack power to a compatible weapon for 60 seconds. This is an attack-power addition, so enemy defenses and the attack used determine the extra HP damage.
• The added Magic attack power is fixed rather than improved by Intelligence. This is useful when you want an elemental coating without investing in a casting attribute.
• It does not let the weapon cast sorceries or make every skill projectile deal Magic damage. A skill needs to use the coated weapon's damage for the coating to matter.
• Royal Magic Grease adds 120 Magic attack power instead. The two coatings use the same buff slot and cannot be added together.
• Use a weapon that allows coatings. Standard, Heavy, Keen and Quality are the usual compatible affinities; elemental and status affinities normally prevent grease, with separate restrictions for unique weapons.
• Uses the weapon-buff slot. Another grease or a weapon enchantment replaces the coating, rather than stacking a second coating on top.
• Applying it spends one prepared item and costs no FP. Carry up to ten, with another 600 in storage; switching away from the coated weapon can remove the effect.
• Each batch uses 1 Root Resin and 1 Crystal Bud. Applying the grease spends one prepared item; it does not consume the cookbook.
